As I mentioned in another post, I use Shell Rotella 15W-40 diesel oil. Have used it in my old 911E, 911T and never had a problem. This was the factory fill on new cars.

Two well regarded Porsche mechanics here in Oz recommend and use Castrol Magnatech 15-40 and 10-40.
This sort of debate will go on (always does) for pages. I really think (personally) there is no one size fits all as it depends on age of motor, driving style , environmental conditions etc. Just my 2c worth

Anyone use Total Quartz 9000 5W40 (aka Elf 5W40)? The shop I use for projects too big for me used it after a major project and my engine was bone dry. Last oil change a couple weeks ago, I put in Joe Gibbs XP5 and now I've got some seepage on the valve cover nuts and the timing chain covers that wasn't there before.

I use Total/Elf Syntetic 5W-40 which is an API SL; Quartz 9000 is API SN, meaning less ZDDP...
Works fine in my engine. Pressure (at normal operating temperature) is 5 bar @ 4500 rpm.

Porsche Classic 10w-60
On a BMW Blog I did find some info on the Porsche Classic 20w50.
Porsche Classic Motoroil 20w50
Zinc: 883ppm
Phosphorus: 927ppm
Viscosity at 100C: 19.1
TBN: n/a
VERY interesting, as Porsche seems to say that ZDDP are not as important as we think they are?!
Those numbers are lower than any oil, anyone here uses...

I wondered if anyone (Undutched?) has found leaked info, or better yet, Blackstone tested Zinc & Phosphorous numbers on the 10w-60 as well?
I caveat & realize that the heat demands on the 964 Turbo's are not the same as NA,.. but thought I would cross-post the link to a discussion I've nudged along over in the other RL forum...

The final few posts in that thread, are where I've ponied up some information that I've collected up to this point.
I am interested in all feedback from anyone who has tried this oil, &/or had any of it tested.
TIA,
