speakers !!!
Ian,
You'll need 13cm speakers. I got some Infinity Kappas & I'm very happy with them. Did not bother replacing the crappy ones on the back shelf. Instead to get some more bass, I fitted an Active Subwoofer under/behind the passenger seat (LHD). Very happy with the result!

Be interested to know more about your subwoofer installation. My bass is very poor.
Thanks!
Ian - I'll check later, but I fitted Infinity speakers which were, I think 6.5 inches. This is significantly bigger than the original speakers (5.25 I think), but they fitted the same holes. Wierd I know, but it is to do with the mounting points. I'll check the exact model later.
Seems like the Infinity speakers are a popular choice as I also have them and am very happy with them.
One thing I did find is that installing good speakers in the front emphasised the lack of speakers in the back. I am not in the habit of making my friends squeeze into the back of my car but occasionally I have needed the rear seats so did not want to lose them completely to a rear speaker install. As a result I have constructed a box which contains a set of 6"x9"s and sits on the folded down seats. The box is carpeted and is attached to the seats using heavy duty velcro to stop any movement. The speaker cables connect to a quick release connection box so if I know I am going to need the seats or the space I simply unclip the cables and lift the box out.
It's not ideal but it suits my needs and once the car is off the road a bit more over the next few months I intend to redo the same installation with a few extra improvements.
Jim.

Phil,
I fitted a small clarion sub partially under, partially behind the passenger seat (LHD). Made a big difference & worth every penny of the £130 is cost me.
Only down side, is that you can't move the seat all the way back - perhaps lost a couple of inches in leg room, but I thought since I never sit there...
Upsides are great bass & a free massage for the passenger!

I installed Focal in the front and Alpine amplifier under the passengers seat my next step is to get more bass with a subwoofer but I am looking at several options, the first one is to place it behind the drivers seat (like audio innovations) which leaves no leg room at least on one side, the other option which someone posted some photos not very long ago is to fit the subwoofer on a side right behind the window, this didn´t take any space at all.

Without checking (I've just done a quick search online) I believe that my Infinity speakers are the 60.5cs.

Hi,
I went for Focal Utopia speakers up front (5 1/4 components). Both the woofer and tweeter fit in the same spot as the stock speakers. I have a Mcintosh MX406 head unit, Mcintosh 420M amp in the "trunk", with an Alpine V12 amp (also in trunk) powering an 8 in. subwoofer. For the subwoofer, I used the "velcro" method already mentioned above. The sub box sits on my folded down rear seats, and can be removed easily if needed (it only sits atop one seat, leaving the other available. I only have to remove it if I need both seats. Hasn't yet happened, as I don't have two midget friends to fit back there).
