CSR4.2 is 993 based:

I've always liked RUF. Recently added a RUF steering wheel and pedal set to my 964. Wasn't cheap but a nice touch. If money was no issue I'd take that red ctr3! What a cool looking car

I love the air-cooled blue car. I would take that over a Singer any day. Probably even more expensive though.

Nice to see updates to the Ruf 964 designs. Unfortunately, my checkbook will never afford one.

The EVO magazine article said they were both 964-based however Alois Ruf did mention "multi-link" rear suspension when discussing the SCR4.2 during the Geneva presentation.

Well I think the 4.2 is a Frankenstein car because of the stretched wheelbase which is apparently obvious when you look at it from the side. Even if it were 993 based, I'm sure the underside is far from original 993 anyway

What a combo. I wonder if RUF also tried stuffing his V8 in there?

With Ruf's resources, too bad they didn't whip something up and still keep it air-cooled. A 4-cam, 24-valve, variocam, air-cooled 4.0L is fun to imagine. The development of that carbon fiber roof assembly is truly extraordinary.

Great to see the continued interest in our 25 year old models! The +20mm increase to the front wheelbase is a pretty neat trick too. Would love to see one of these from beneath.

The SCR 4.2 is based on a 3.2 Carrera chassis

997GT3 engine and 6 speed speed. I haven't seen any specs on the suspension
525hp@8370, 369ft-lb@5820, 4185cc, 1190kg
Note the large t-bar holes

It's interesting that a local fellow built a similar extended wb car w/ mid mounted twin turbo 3.2, very fast!!! Mucho impressive to watch giant flames shooting out the exhaust!! Rear suspesnion is off a 914.

Ruf ultimate is also 911 based air-cooled turbo 3.6, 6 speed, 590hp@6800, 531ft-lb@4500, 1215kg

Love the color!!

Turbo R Limiited is 993 based, air cooled twin turbo 6, 6speed trans, 620hp@6800, 2wd or 4wd on request

air cooled twin turbo 6, 6speed trans, 620hp@6800

RTR narrow is 991 based, 802hp@7300, 730ft-lb@4500, 3746cc. 6spd, 1490kg

I am not impressed by the looks of the lwb version. Out of proportion to my eyes. I'm sure it's a great drive, but I don't find that a problem even with what I already have. I would be happy to take one of the regular wheelbase Rufs, though. But maybe that's just me

I was at Ruf Pfaffenhausen right before the Geneva Show (and also at the Geneva Show). In Pfaffenhausen I was shown in depth the SCR4.2 including up on the lift by Alois Ruf. From his words to me as well as my eyes, I can tell you 100% that the prototype was based on a highly modified 993 chassis. Also what was amazing was some named names in the Porsche and automotive design world could not tell what was done to this car until they were told. They would guess and say, are the fender lips different? It was incredible! I spent a lot of time with this car in person and will tell you it's stunning in person. I think the longer wheelbase really suits it. The overall length stays the same and the overall shape is the same as the original CTR. Remember, this is a development prototype that will test a lot of new concepts and ideas for Ruf. The combination of the chassis and water-cooled Mezger motor will be interesting to experience. I look forward to driving it myself. This car, more than any of the others represents Ruf being Ruf. I hope this helps.

That's great, and says a lot about Ruf's work.

Can't wait to hear the reviews!
