I’m starting to run out of things to do on the car and the weather was too wet to enjoy driving so I brought the the DA polisher out and had a half hearted go on the roof. Grand Prix White must be the least rewarding colour to polish.

Afshin, I use a 5 inch backing plate with 5.5 inch generic pads. Menzerna and Gyeon products. I’ve become semi addicted to the wet coat as it appeals to my sense of laziness

White unfortunately doesn’t have the “pop” that you get with a polished black, red or even deeper blues.

I’ve never tried wet coat, is that similar to a ceramic coating in a spray bottle?

I imagine so. It supposedly coats the paint for 6 or so months so maybe less durable than a ceramic coating. The instructions are spray and immediately rinse off. It gives a deep shine with no physical polishing.

It’s amazing to me that I can have a car for 5 years and somehow subliminally not notice that my wheel well liner has taken a big hit sometime in the past. I had to pay a silly price for an excellent condition used part, but when has price deterred me before. Now it’s all good.

With the exception of resolving the carpet saga and locating the mechanism for the rear spoiler, I’m pretty much finished so I went to my local beach at sunrise for a photo shoot. It’s the best time of day to make the GPW paint pop.

Wow, the paint looks fantastic! Very nice job with the polishing.

You noted that the wheel well liner was used, it looks new though!

Thanks.

The wheel well liner was given a light coat of something before I picked it up. I didn't expect it and I'm not sure what it is. It's a bit pointless given I will soon mess it up on the road.

John, I just have to say WOW. Awesome job. I hope someday my '92 GP white will look that good.

Hey John
Does the PDAS light still come on since fitting the LED brake lights?
I thought they caused issues due to voltage drop...
Cheers

Thanks, it took that special sunrise light to show it off. Otherwise it's an unrewarding colour to polish.

Hi George. The LED bulbs made no difference to the PDAS operation. My light comes on as usual. BTW I don't have cruise control which is apparently the system that causes issues.

Cool, thanks for confirming.
I'll add my bulb for the PDAS dash light and then continue with purchasing LEDs for the rear.
Cheers

The PDAS light add is worthwhile. I can see it going on momentarily when going over bumps and on my steep driveway. I can't wait to use it on a wet winding road and see how much it's coming on in the twisties.
