Yeah, i bought the blue to see how they differ. The blacks really didn't add any noticeable noise or harshness. So i have some room there in the noise department...

I should have called them. But i just went ahead and made an order without thinking about it. These were installed by me, torqued to spec, and I've not touched them since.

I drive the car hard, often. And it's everyday..winter and summer - so who knows . Maybe they didn't like the temp changes last year? We had a brutally cold winter. Or maybe just a bad batch from their supplier.

And way, if these don't last more than two years, I'm going solid mounts. Lol.

I'll never go back to oem 993 mounts though. These are way better (when they don't fail).

I wonder if anyone has had an issue with rennline mounts.

On second thought...the only thing that could do this is if the mount is loose. It would have to be moving to shred the poly like that. So i wonder if it's worked itself loose over the years and that's what's going on. I'll have to explore.

Just got off the phone with KW. Turns out that the lower hole on the kw v3 for our car is in fact 14mm on their struts.

So that means that all of us who own them, unless i was just given incorrect information. Have "active camber"!!! Dynamically changing on the fly when the car is under load.

Lovely.

So the current fix for me is one of two options.

First- can drill the bottom hole on the upright to 14mm and use a larger bolt.

Or second- use a step down insert, which has been ordered and I'll report back once they arrive.

Still no go, something is up. Maybe an issue on the back end?
Anyway, before that is solved: The part we were discussing in PM's did not arrive, can you send another?

Thanks!
Andrew

I'll never go back to oem 993 mounts though. These are way better ? Problem with the 993 OEMs that I just installed?

There is zero problem with 993 mounts. They are way better than the oem 964 hydraulic mounts and they are reliable and they cost less.

That said. For me, they are too soft. And they are not serviceable. So i prefer to use the Wevo. Wevo Black pillow mounts are slightly stiffer than the 993 mounts, but still soft enough to not add a lot of noise. Car feels a bit more solid and the engine doesn't move around quite as much as it does with the 993 mounts.

If you aren't driving the car very hard, the oem 993 mounts are perfect. If you do drive the car hard, and want to tighten things up a bit, the Wevo are a little better.

Thanks for the quick response. Not likely drivng it as hard as you do. We met BTW when I dropped in on you a few years ago-- 91 c4 slate grey-. After a full engine rebuild, I ended up kinda following your "madenss" route on the suspension. H&R springs, Bilstein b6's, ER new bushes and bits everywhere-- front and rear -- RS ride heigh and lots of other WYAs. Car feels wondertful. Only problem is finding time to drive it...

Steve right? I get confused btw nic names here and real names in real life!

But hold on...wasn't your car basically like new? I drove it right? Low miles, well maintained...Or am i remembering the wrong car?

Yes, you drove it right after the motor hand been done. Your "like new" assesment struck me as a little generous...Pretty much followed your suspenson madness route after you drove it. Motor and engine work done by Mike Tashkent of Mtech in New Rochelle. He sold me the car BTW. Mike is a stand up guy who has demonstrated excellent mechaical judgment and execution over the course of seven years refurbisiung the 964 c4 and maintaining my 25K original mile 993 c4s

I'd love to drive it post-suspension. Maybe we can swap cars some weekend for a drive...but not until i get mine worked out.

I'm killing myself over not having caught the kw design issue earlier. Once i have that worked out, I'll do an alignment and move on....to the chain tensioners that need to be done, the Wevo that need to be re-pillowed, the oil lines to the front that are leaking....lol...old cars.

FWIW my shop changed something or used an insert on the front strut as i think kw makes these to fit both 993 and 964. I’ll have to take a look when i have a wheel off.
