Default Oil Cooler Temp Sensor Test?

All this oil cooler talk lately had me wondering if my oil cooler fan is working correctly? I used my scan tool to verify that the fan comes on at both low speed and high speed, so I think this confirms that my relays and resister are working correctly.

However, how do I check to see if the Temp Sensor/Switch is working correctly? I let it idle for quite a while to see the fan coming on and it never does. When I read Adrian's book it said it only comes when the oil temp gauge read ~10 o'clock. My car doesn't get that hot. Any other way to confirm the Temp sensor is working?

I should also mention that my thermostat is clearly working fine as the front right panels are clearly warmer than the front left. The temp also drops when the thermostat opens.

A RL member put this together, it's a good resource

http://members.rennlist.com/rgranaas...0Rev_0_Web.htm

it mentions the expected ohms for the sensor at different temps.

Point an infared thermometer at the sensor area of the oil cooler. The engagement point is stupid high, like higher than 9:30 on the dash gauge.

Read through about 2/3rds of the way through post #1.

Thanks Vandit. I'd like to see the fan come on at a little lower temp so maybe I'll go the resister route once I verify my temp sensor is working properly.

Thanks mojorizing! I'll try to look into it this weekend.

Yep, I saw it in your post. I very much appreciate everyone's help tracking this info down. For those that have made this mod, are you happy with the temp that the fan comes on? Any downsides?
