Well, this was a fun hour and a half break before I had to go back to the office...

Tony, yes, this is the new residential building by the GWB. I asked the driver to meet me on the New Jersey side since it was more convenient and he would've had a tough time negotiating the NYC terrain.

Once off the truck I made sure to fill her up with some fresh 93 octane. I deliberately left less than 1/4 tank last week before I shipped her so that she can taste the real deal right off the bat

Then I headed over to Manhattan...

I have to say, driving the 964 in the City is VERY REWARDING. The Bilstein HDs along with the stock springs, as well as the tall sidewalls of the 17" wheels & tires absorb bumps and minor potholes really well. And the benefit of the short wheelbase is quite apparent when turning on a dime and avoiding larger objects on the road. I have never owned a car that I felt I could toss around in Manhattan without either being worried I'll damage the wheels or suspension or the car just didn't have enough power to zip around effortlessly. But this 964 is amazing in that respect. If I needed a daily driver around here, this car in its current condition would make a perfect one!

I had to run to the office but managed to do a couple of small upgrades. Radio Delete:

And replaced the cassette storage with a tray:

This week is busy so I won't have much time to spend with the car but there is LOTS more planned in the near future...

very exciting! Don't know if I would be as brave as you taking the 964 down the FDR though!

93?? Move up a pump and try out some of that 100 octane only $9.99 a gallon. That is the only station in North Jersey that carries racing fuel anymore. It wasn't all that long ago you could find it almost anywhere. They love me there every time I show up they laugh and say $400 in 100 octane again. LOL

BTW car looks great.

Would using 100octane without the ECU being tuned for it yield any benefit?

Not $9.99 a gallon worth. Just thought it was interesting not many gas stations I recognize from a photo. Spend a lot of time at that pump filling my car and all my gas cans prior to track events. There must be 50 gas stations around there. BTW if you use your Sunoco card you save $2 on every $300 you spend.

Don't forget that poor car has been driving on crappy 91 octane all this time.

How about blending 4:1 on 15 gallons (12 gallons @93; 3 gallons @100). Any benefit/harm in doing this; incremental cost is minimal.

Well, it's been a while. Had my transmission rebuilt - ring & pinion, synchros, etc. along with a few other while-in-there things. Here's what the old R&P looks like, there are actually burn marks on it...

Now the car shifts smooth as butter and makes the 3.8L really shine.

Then had H&R Reds over the Bilstein HDs installed and completely revamped my brakes using 993 and 964 RS parts:

And then there are the wheels...

So this is how she sits now:

Quite a few more things to do but more on the cosmetic end and removing weight. Performance-wise it's all set!

A couple of exterior upgrades - some badge engineering, cooling ducts, splitters, and Euro RS rear bumper...

All made possible by Tony (cobalt), his infinite knowledge of these cars, and his bottomless tool chest. Thank you!!
