I found a cheap set of low mileage 986 mounts at a local breaker. They seem to be working well, no increased NVH.

This. I found them to be a nice compromise for street and occasional solo

Default Which Engine Mounts

"Stock" mounts at this point should be considered the 993 mounts. Oem 964 mounts suck and should have been discontinued years ago.

For me, I went with 993 mounts, they work fine and you can lift the car by the motor without too much worry. That was three years ago. They are still fine, but I'm upgrading to wevo black after driving a friend's car with wevo's. They are better. There is more vibration, but wow and flutter (turntable speak), is limited and reduced..so I'm in.

My engine mounts are shot as well, so I ordered a set of RS motor mounts. I like to do mods from the Porsche parts bin.

I was considering 997 active engine mounts, but that seemed like a lot of effort for a car I don't use as daily transport.

I will be replacing the mounts this weekend.

I just did the 993 mounts, they were a big difference from my very worn out 964 mounts

This must be a new product for the 964. I had not heard of them before. Nice they include a whole range of durometer inserts.

I wonder how the stiffest Rennline inserts compare to the Wevo blue inserts.

I have Wevo blues. Love them.

I've solid mounts and I'm very happy with them. Very cheap, not too much vibration, great handling and shifting.

So yesterday me and a friend started replacing the mounts, all went well until I tried to remove the 13mm nuts that hold the driver side mount to the chassis. Both snapped of requiring very little force. Before I realised that they snapped, I was actually impressed with how easily they came out

Both bolts turned out to be heavily corroded. Very strange since the head and the bottom part sticking out still had the gold coloured coating intact.

Anyway, what is done is done. Now I need to find a way of getting the rest of the bold out. Regular tooling is not going to work since the metal drill bits are all to short to get to the bolts.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'll send some photos when they arrive and have been installed.
