Too far for me to go in mid-November, I'm afraid.

I must do Brands one day 'though, maybe if there's one next summer.

Phil,

I broke the gearbox last time I was at Oulton . I was going to have the `box rebuilt with close ratio gears but found an unused 993RS box and deceided to fit that instead. It has steel synchros, close ratios but retains an "overdrive" 6th and has an LSD.

Thanks Tony. Was it a straightforward job?

Cheers

Phil,

Didn`t fit it myself but AFAIK 9M who did the work had no problems; the box is a bit longer and needed a front mount fabricating and a shift rod adapting but other than that just bolts in.

John

I removed the tip to clean it up a bit with the intention of repainting it with black high-temp paint.

The paint can said to sand the area to be painted - which I did. I used wet/dry paper and was surprised to see nice shiny stainless steel beneath the paint.

Upshot was that the wet/dry sanding got all of the paint back and quite a nice shine - I just used metal polish to get the final result.

I'm still not sure if I prefer the standard black look though!
