Default 996 calipers on 964

I've got a pair of 996 rear calipers, sat on a shelf in my garage.
Is it possible to use them on my c-2?

Iam already running 993 front calipers, and the 4 pot rears from a c-4.

Would thease calipers fit on the rear or the front, would they make an improvement, worth the effort?

you could probably fit them w/ an adapter, but the question really is why would you?

Another question is, w/ 993 front why don't you have 993 rear calipers?

These are for the front http://www.rennline.com/Rennline-Bra...ductinfo/CS04/

Rennline might know about the rear.

Why don't I have 993 rears, I've thought about upgrading the rears to match the fronts. Just never done it, maybe one day?

As for fitting 996 calipers, it was just an ask, probably not worth the effort.

Brakes on my car work fine so I think I'll just sell them.

w/ 993 front caliper you should have 928 S4 32 x304 rotor and 993 rear calipers on you std 964 rear rotors or on M30 968 rear rotors which are the same size but drilled rather than plain

w/ 964 rear calipers you bias is a bit forward from where you'd want it @1.958, w/ 993 rear calipers bias moves to 1.604, this is a good place to be, for track use you'd want even more rear bias.

W/ either of the above it helps to have the p/v removed

and w/ either you'd want a 993 23.8mm m/c rather than the stock 20.6

You need 993 vac can 993.355.023.10
gasket 993.355.301.00
bracket 993.355.163.03
and either 993 lines or adaptors.

The last is because 964 uses 10mm fittings and 993 has 12mm fittings you need adapters or new lines to connect 993 m/c

the 993m/c uses 12x1.0mm fittings, 993 use 6mm line, 964 uses 10x1.0mm fittings on 4.75mm line

Places like Classic tube can make up line w/ 10 on one end and 12 on the other

another good source is Plews-Edelman

and also Fedhill

Some guys have reported that they used
BMW 6mm to 10mm line adaptor 34-32-6-752-405 which has 10mm to 12mm fittings

Why wouldnt you?

If they fit and are better than standard 964 why not use them

More readily available and cheaper than 993/928 calipers as well

Not seen anyone do it before though

They aren't better just different, the have the same pistons but a slightly different pad geometry, they will function almost exactly the same as 964 rears.
