Default Seat assistance, recover, trade, buy tan ones??

I am trying to understand the options that I have regarding some seats. Original seats were sport heated seats both sides. They were stolen along with a couple wheels of a friends car. He picked the seats up to replace the lost ones.

1- are these comfort seats or sport seats?
2- they obviously no longer match the cashmere or tan interior of the rest of the car. Changing the black to tan is likely quite difficult not impossible though. Can black leather seats be redirected to match tan?
3- when I'm browsing eBay I noticed that there are some seat replacement covers either vinyl or leather that would fit over the seats. Does anyone have experience with recovering seats?
4- does anyone either have some tan seats for sale or would like to trade for these black ones?

I appreciate everyone's time,

Peter

I have tan pair, 8 way power heated, with black piping, not the best shape. better then black. I always put my water in that pocket also. perfect fit! Trade? I also have a nice shifter I had recovered before I wrecked the car. Lets talk.

I had mine recovered using a seller found through eBay. David I think. They look pretty good. Search my post history as a took some photos after a year or so of having them installed.

I have a set of sport seats from an '85 944, they are identical to 911 seats that were the option on our cars...had them reupholstered. The bulk of the cost was the leather kit for the upholstery.

Your seats are comfort seats. If they fit you well, have them reupholstered. If you want sport seats, the cheapest way is to wait till a set of tan sport seats come up for sale and buy them, and resell yours to cover a part of the cost, and done...

I was able to work a direct trade with another 964 owner (Thanks Michael) but now I need to test to see that the seat electronics function properly.

My car is currently without engine and tranny, and thus the battery has been disconnected for that work. Can anyone tell me if a 1989 964 has power at the seats without the key? Reason - I don't want to turn the key at all cause I don't want my fuel pump to kick on, etc. If I reconnect only the battery and plug in the seat, am I good?

Your seats should have power with the key off. If you want to be double sure that the fuel pump won't be engaged, temporarily remove the DME relay.

I just tested this on my 1990 C2 ROW and the seat motors work with the key off or with the key switched to AUX (1 click from off)

Tested fine with no worrying noises of auxiliary systems starting up.
