Default Rain gutter delete

Know this one's been discussed before, but a bit of searching and I found a picture posted by vandit from a while back ( it helped that I'd just watched the Ruf Yellowbird video from the 'ring too!!!)

So, as the pit will at some time in the near (hopefully &#128521 future have both rear quarters cut out, and new metal put in, why not delete the rain gutters? It's going to be properly welded, so no loss of strength, not driven too much in the rain (I know, I'm in Scotland....), I'm not racing it. Purely for the fact that it looks pretty damn good

Thoughts?

Hi Baldy,

I may be the minority opinion, but I really like the rain gutters on the 964. It adds to the classic looks and is an interesting detail to my eye. Not even sure why I like it so much, it's just a reminder that the car isn't a regular modern machine.

Again, just an opinion. If you like the gutter less look, power to you!

Cheers,
Tim

I saw the thread title and came into the thread just to post ^that^ pic, lol.

That car was very nice, and I think the gutter delete looks great.

I'm definitely interested in learning more about what's involved.

Haha, sorry for stealing your thunder (it's on Instagram too, hope you don't mind, did credit you )

Had a mail from Tom earlier saying yes, we can do it, so hopefully when it's a more reasonable hour here, he can say what's involved....

+1. I love gutters, too. Would never get rid of mine.

Fairly simple practice. Cut a section out. Weld it. Cut another section out, weld it and so on. If you cut the whole gutter off at once then you can get in a bit of trouble and it starts going wobbly

I'll be doing the gutter delete but will do it when I fit carbon rear quarter panels

I like the uncluttered look so will use 993 rear quarter window rubber to smooth up the look even more
