There is a red 964 that just got posted in marketplace but seems fishy.
Came across this black 93 on Craigslist , tried to negotiate seller said it’s pending sale and wasn’t negotiable at all

Wild to see some of these 964 prices though. The prices have obviously been on a steady climb but in the past 12 months, they’ve really shot up.

It’s a pretty cryptic ad. No details on the maintenance or much detail at all for that matter. Interesting that it’s pending at that “non negotiable” price. I wonder if that will go through.

the 93 on craigslist he's an old grumpy guy and i guess knows what he has. talked to him for about 10mins , car is original but he said very strong and has plenty of records. The buyer already sent him a deposit he said, i'm not surprised even at that price, heck a 90 C4 sold for $90,000 on BAT that we all know lol also looks like that red one on here "sold", these 964's are the hottest game in town

I sold my black 964 last summer while being told that it would be a 100k car soon. It was a beauty. I couldn't be happier with my fashion gray 964 ... been driving it lately and man what a beastly fun drive. Pics

yea,... you guys are right. I should not be surprised. Eddieb4, I remember when you made that post too. I was like "if the 50k mile cars make it to $100K, then I'll just stop watching the market & stick my head in the sand - which means just drive mine anyway & live life". Lol.
I guess I'm just not doing a very good job of re-setting my own barometer of where the market "should" be for these cars. There's so much good stuff out there to try. $100K +/- even 5% can buy you a lot of options!!
.... and I'm probably also a little disgruntled because it's my 24 yr old son who feel bad for. He's grown up with all our cars,... and always said "when I graduate college, I'm buying myself something I can work on & make my own".
........... now it's just not gonna happen with an air-cooled 911. Back then (15+ yrs ago) he was hoping to set-aside / save $15K to buy one. sigh.
Btw, I don't blame all the guys who were in the market for one just within this last year,... who are now just giving up & saying "I'm out". shark tank style.

Agree with @LAcarguy . Have your son grab a higher mileage manual Coupe E36 M3 either ‘95 OBD-I or ‘98 through ‘99. Can find one for $10K that needs some usual work and it will become a high value collectible just like our little frog faced aircooled
wheels did.
that said, I may be entertaining offers for my avatar..
Good Luck!

I’ve looked long and hard at BMW alternatives but every time my focus shifts away and I come back to Porsche for their build quality and performance. But it is hard to argue that BMW has a strong following and values do go up.

A little perspective from someone who was looking for a 964 for a while and found the right car after passing on a few cars out there....
Yes, the market has obviously trended upward, but given the age of these cars, finding an excellent driving example (doesn't even necessarily correspond with mileage) is not an easy task. I drove cars with mileage in the 35-40k range that felt flat and wern't tight. If any of you have ever gone down the rabbit hole of trying to make one of these cars "right," it is usually possible-as long as there aren't any structural issues- but can get expensive REALLY fast. My first 911 when I was in my early 20's was a 91 C2 which I bought used in '96 and I feel like I've come full circle. Sure, modern porsches are dramatically faster and more capable, but for the street, the 964 / 993 generation are just so enjoyable.
If others out there are buying these for the same reason I bought mine, people are always willing to pay a premium for the right car. What you don't want to do is to unknowingly pay a premium for the wrong car.
