So much missing stories on the net these days. We did minor work on this car when the local customer owned it. The tires on the mag wheels were old. He purchased a set of stock Cup wheels with new tires & decided to run them instead of mag wheels to avoid LA pothole nightmare. The mag wheels are in storage. No story or that's the story.

Nice but I would have preferred it as it was delivered in its original ClubSport street version. This car was used and cleaned up nicely but I don't see it bringing top dollar. Canepa has a nice black one for sale. https://canepa.com/photo-gallery/199...964-rs-385868/
If you were planning to drive your approx. $1.3M+ 3.8RS on track, that RSR engine might be appealing. IMHO.

Sorry too rich for my fun. That is what clones are for. Although when I am done with mine it will leave these trying to play catchup. I would want an RS for street driving but these are all going to collections or wealthy historic racers. I would prefer to have a stock one. I'll let you know when I win the lottery LOL.
Obviously a 3.6 RS is much more affordable for driving around.
There are over 1700 3.6 RSes out there, and only maybe 50 3.8 RS.
How much does a clone build save over a decent 3.6RS?

Agreed. And frankly a 3.6RS is pretty damned similar (other than the narrow body) to a 3.8RS, for a million less.

I am of course biased for "late generation black 964 cabriolet with cup wheels"
Here's a nice one for sale, owner is very knowledgeable and a true enthusiast: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...a-cabriolet-3/
