Fourth controller fixed. This one was fitted to a 1991 car so the controller was under the left side of the dashboard (RHD car). The spoiler would extend but not retract either automatically or by manual switch. It was a transistor again.
This thread is way above my pay grade, but I do have a question for the intelligencia. Is it possible that there is a connection between the spoiler control unit and alarm/door locks for a MY 1990 C2? My door locks no longer active by key, and my Indy thinks the MY 1990 electronics might be impacted by the controller unlike later models. The controller unit was deleted when the interior was guttted (as were many other electronics) and the door locks haven’t worked since. Thanks in advance for any input or advice.

The only wiring in-common with both ECUs is the #15 power and ground, so it's unlikely.
Hopefully, you replaced all the leaky electrolytic capacitors? It appears the capacitor near pins 1/14 of the quad op-amp may be leaking.
I think someone has been in before me. The solder on the electrolytic capacitors is brighter than other components, a zener diode has been moved and a transistor has a soldering iron mark on its casing.
It's difficult to see if the substance is part of the factory protection (its all over the board on both sides) or leakage. Here are some photos.

Just remove the questionable caps, inspect the bottoms, and then use a VOM to test them. If OK, then re-install them.
I am working on a in-car, user-programmable spoiler control unit. Reprogramming of deployment/retract speed tresholds is done using the spoiler switches in the centre console.
I hope to have it ready wihtin 6-8 weeks from now.
Cheers,
Tore
Hey ToreB, wanted to see how the progress on the user-programmable spoiler control unit is going? Thoughts on when it might be ready?

My T-SPOILER control unit has ben taking more time than expected, but is now in the latest design phases. I have been testing it thoroughly in my 993, and expect the prototype production run will be finished within 2-3 weeks.

Hello Tore,
Is there an update to this? Can we buy one?
Hey Tore, that looks fantastic. One question, for a '89 964 C4 which doesn't have a spoiler control switch (it is in the rear engine bay) will you still be able to programme the unit?
It is not possible to change the default trigger speeds without a spoiler control switch. You could either insert the module into a friend's 964 or 993 to program it, or I can set speeds before shipping.
Cheers,
Tore
