Hi Rob
The firing order spark and injection etc are all controlled by the ECU and it only runs off the Crank sensor although for ultimate control/tuning fitting a cam sensor would be better to give sequential control!
I think that's right!! It's been a while since I wired it up Ha Ha

Thanks Simon, any chance you peek into your ECU config for the coil dwell time

Just wonder where the cam sensor would be.....?
At the power steering ..? ( Once replaced by the electric)

Hi Rob
Unfortunately I no longer have the disc in order to gain access! But next time I speak to the guy that tunes the car I'll ask him.

Kos11-12
Best to fit cam sensor would be in power steering pump area but if you were to keep std pump you could put a trigger on cam chain wheel drill one of the chain covers and fit sensor in there.

Why just around the lower cam cover ? Is this because of the proximity of the headers/manifold ? Or due to the heat generated by the engine in general ? I'm thinking of ceramic coating the headers if their heat is an issue. The shop I'm using suggested COP and they've been doing them for the past 3 years and have never had any issues so far.

Hi Talat, could you find out which COP device they use? Since I'm already running distributerless (twin 6-way coil packs), a switch to COP would be trivial.

I have my kit just waiting to get time to do the install. I have coils from the cayenne, but I wished I used the vw coils.I have the complete kit from clewett engineering. Richard said the porsche coils put out move voltage but they needed brackets to hold them in. The vw coils snap on with no brackets.

Hi Rob, Audi coils - can get the part numbers when I next see the car in a couple of weeks if you wish. As per wallra above, they are a snug fit and don't require brackets. Cam sensor from Clewett Engineering.

I was thinking heat from the exhaust not engine.

If you ceramic coat your exhaust headers use Zircotec, it's a plasma sprayed on coating developed from the nuclear industry as used by most F1, WRC and LMP teams. I've used it many times and it works very well and durable too.

@wallra - interested to know if you've installed the clewitt bits and if you find any difference. the one thing that bugs me with the driveability of mine is just off idle and a bit of hesitation in the 1000-2500 rpm range... feels like the barn door will not open and allow air in... so more of a maf issue. either way, would like to hear some input on the distributorless drive 'feel'... dyno may not tell you everything ie: you may make the same power and torque but how does it feel.. similar to lwf .

I have not installed yet but will do soon and I'll post what I find.
