Default GP White > 993 G50/21 LSD rebuild

As a part of my GP White project, I decided to go for a 993 G50/21 gear box.
I was able to get a genuine G50/21 with LSD with known history. Based on this information I decided to only rebuild the LSD and clean the gearbox.
Here some detailed pics

New friction plates and ramps were sourced from Matt @ Guard Transmission.
Meanwhile the case was glass bead blasted and enamel covered.
Everything was topped off with new chromated hard ware.

Nice job! Looks like the new ramps have two different slip options, but why did you decide to change the ramps and did you go from 2 discs to 4?

Work of art! I'd be tempted to just leave it on display rather than hiding it under the car.

Number of discs wasn't changed, it's still 2x 2 discs.
As the car will see a lot of track time, I wanted to have more lock on accelaration.

Default What did you use to clean the gearbox?

Any chemicals/pressure wash?

With this being an early C2 what arrangement have you got for the speedometer signal? I had to adjust the pickup ring when I intstalled a LSD but does the later box/diff use this arrangement?

First with brake cleaner to take of all greasy stuff by hand, then glass bead blasting.

I'm going to take the signal from the ABS sensors as the later models

So a new R52 and job done? The LSD makes a big difference to the way the car behaves, I was quite surprised after installation. Nice and stable under braking and in the recent slippy conditions the car was huge fun when getting aggressive with the throttle.

The 993 G50/21/LSD gearbox conversion is a brilliant one, I did the same swap earlier this year, the gears are just perfect, I found it transformed the car the right ratio for every occasion plus a taller final drive

have fun

The 50/80 markings on the ramps represent the amount of lockup during acceleation (50) and deceleration (80). The higher the number the more pressure is put on the plates to lock up the differential. 50/80 is very agressive for the street and are generally used in racing cars. The factory GT3 Cup cars come with 40/65 in either 4 or 8 plate versions depending on year.

Love to see pics of perfectly restored and refreshed bits ... Very nice.
Can I ask ...
1.Who makes the original 993 LSD you have there? I need to check mine but invoice says 993 RS LSD
2. What's the downside on street to the 50/80 or 40/65?
3. What kind of enamel do you use re the (now beautiful) case?
