Default I'm New Here! First Porsche!

Hello Everyone,

This is my first, I've been saving my whole life for the car, and was able to jump on a really good deal last week. My Dad owned a 1997 C2S in Guards Red when I was tiny, ever since then I've been dying for an air cooled of my own.

About the car. It's a '94 C2 Cab in lovely Wimbledon Green Metallic. Who else has got this color? Looks great in the flesh; better than I ever thought it would. Picked it up in Wilmington, NC with just over 59,000 miles on the odo, and drove it back to Maryland. Body's great. New top, too. the interior is decent. The leather on the passenger's seat is totally dried up, and there was a bird's nest of wires in the dash thanks to a novice's attempt on the radio. I'm considering swapping it out for the lovely one made by Porsche; I like an integrated Navigation and I love an upgrade that's made to look like it was stock. The car came with 3 different types of tires, one was totally dry rotted who does that to a 964? I've already ordered a set of refinished 17" Cup II's, the ones off a 993. The car will get a new windshield as well, then it will be time to move on to the engine. I'm dying to ditch the secondary muffler, and then I want to work my way up to around 285 FWHP.

Let me know what you guys think. I've truly been in awe of some of the things I've already seen here. Nothing like this community.

Congrats and welcome. I see that you have the rear seat delete, very nice. Put the cover on the top if you drive with it down or else the wind will eventually rip the liner.

That is so true. It's really hard to do justice to the colour in photographs, and under artificial lights it looks like ****e. Get her out in the sunlight (especially sunrise or sunset), however, and Wimbledon Green Metallic really comes into its own.

I understand it was actually a popular colour for the 3.6 Turbos, for some reason.

Here's a photo of my coupe -

I think you're only the third Wimbledon Green Metallic owner active on the list currently, there's also another coupe (being converted into a Chevy )

Welcome to the community!

Your Porsche is absolutely beautiful. I am surprised that the windshield leaks. The rubber seal is sealed to the metal frame as well, the glass is sealed to the rubber seal with a soft cement. This was done at the factory with the advent of air bags. It may have been replaced at one time and even though should not leak. Make sure you order a genuine Porsche seal because there are after market rubber seals that dont work. Look else where for the leaks before you change the windshield such as water drains for sunroof and water drains where air enters in the front cowl for heat/ac.

Arrowhead,
No, my windshield isn't leaking, but it is very pitted. So much, in fact, that my local shop claims that it won't pass a Maryland state inspection. I have my doubts about this... but they actually gave me a good price ($390) for an all new windshield install, so hey, I'

Love that color, it plays to the 64's sophisticated side. The Cup II rims are a great choice.
