Default 964 stone guard fix?

Hi, Im new to the 964 and was wondering how I could fix the "stone guard" that sits directly infront of the rear wheels. The seal that fits inbetween the guard and the rear fender was sticking out and so i tried to unscrew the nut on the backside to loosen the guard. Apparently that spun the clip attached to the guard and broke the little plastic pieces that hold it in place. The little clips appear to be a part of the stone guard, so i really hope I dont have to buy a whole new piece and get it painted just because two little clips broke. Any one have any ideas??

Thanks
Aaron

As long as the tabs are ok on the shark fin you can get replacement clips and seals.

There in lies the problem. The tabs are broken... I dont suppose they sell those to glue onto the fin?

I used gorilla glue. Not recommended.

I would be tempted to glue the white tab to the sharks fin but be careful as you need to position it perfectly to get it to centre with the hole.

Shakes fins do turn up on eBay every so often, from a main dealer they are not cheap. The secret is knowing which just pull off and which unbolt from the inner side

I used All-purpose Goop adhesive to reattach a clip the back of the sill since the attachment points on the back of the sill had failed.

One of mine popped off when the car was being put onto a lift, and revealed that the clips had been re-attached with some kind of adhesive. I guess it's fairly common.

I first tried to plastic weld mine, which was unsuccessful. I then used a 3M structural adhesive for plastic (can't think of the name right now), but it was recommended as being THE choice for repairing bumpers & plastic. It was black and gooey, in two parts, and it did the job nicely.

*edit* Oh yes, discovered mine had been previously repaired, so I took extra care to remove all of the old adhesive, roughed up both surfaces thoroughly with 60-grit, and drilled a couple of small holes in the tab for better adhesive penetration.

Thanks - discarding what's left of the tabs and gluing the clips to the fin sounds like the course of action that I'll take. Thank you!

Leave what's left of the tab in place, otherwise you'll have no point of reference when reattaching the clip.

in the porsche official work shop manual I have seen a TSB for fixing this and some sort of adhesive is mentioned and used to glue bond agent to stick the clip back on the broken remains of the tab even OPC do the same apparently.

I used 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (Black) a few years back and have not had a problem with then since. You could also try this
