Default My favorite car

I'm on the verge of regret... knowing that in about 3 weeks, if the deal actually goes through, I'll realize I've made a big mistake selling my first Porsche.

Last fall, I bought a '91 964 that had been "set up" by a true 911 enthusiast. To this day, I'm not sure why he sold it to me - he has 7 or 8 of them and this was a fairly high-mileage car that probably didn't have to go. Suspension, exhaust and motor are perfect - the car tracks beautifully, sounds like it goes like snot (it's a non-turbo, after all!) and can round a snow-covered bend like nothing else.

In all honesty, the replacement car - a bone-stock, '97 993 - is not my favorite car, although on paper it should be: among the most expensive; among the most "desirable"; among the top of my must-have-list. It's probably my 40th car. But, there is nothing as exciting as the Guards Red 964 that is sitting at my mechanic's shop right now having a PPI performed. I hope it fails. I hope I'm stuck with it. I hope I don't regret letting it go by listening to reason.

Sorry to rant. I'm just anticipating hindsight-regret. And expressing a mid-life fear that I've actually met, owned and driven "my favorite car."

Do what you want to do, not what you think some ******* on another subforum would want you to do.

If you don't need the money or the space keep it! I once sold one of my Porsches! Never, ever, ever did it again! Screw reason, if we heard that we'd all drive white Corollas!
I still regret the day I saw it go.

I hate to say it but if it was a well set up 964, a stock non s 993 will feel like a slug.

Cancel. The only 993 to have is the C2S (TT if you have the bling) and it still needs some tweaks to get it right...

"*******" I didn't know you yanks used that word!

I think I read a few posts spelling out the same feelings! And many have returned to the fold.

But please, don't make too big a noise about it.

I found mine, had the PPI done, paid a few K's deposit, but I haven't collected it yet and the seller might change his mind! sshh!

We don't, as most of us don't even have passports and we consider Puerto Rico as traveling "abroad". However, since the advent of this thing called the "inter-net" (sp?) we can watch episodes of this little show called Top Gear which teaches us troglodytes some new words. "******" makes it #11 of them.. So now we can communicate with you lot a bit.

^^^ This. I went from a 964 to a 993 and back to a 964...couldn't agree more. I'd pull the plug on that transaction.

From the outside it's pretty easy to see the right decision based on your post alone. Your 964 sounds great, I wouldn't want to sell it either!
993's are awesome cars, and if you've always wanted a 993 then do it. That's the only reason I could see switching cars.

You do have experience with this, since you've owned over 40 cars!!!
What do I know, I've only owned two cars my whole life.
