H5 Headlights !$%#
It's true, you learn something new every day.
During my reseal project, a socket flew off of my bench and smacked the right headlight lens and broke it. I cussed for a few minutes but figured, oh well, I'll just buy a lens. Order 2 H4 lenses from Pelican only to realize that mine are H5 sealed beams (also after actually searching the subject).
Now my $80 (2 new lenses) is turning into an expensive project.
Options?
Remove the glass from the sealed beams and use the H4 lenses?
Homemade Xenon projector kit?
H4 Kit?
Rip out the H5's and install some big-assed KC Lites

Sorry that you broke your H5 lens. I don't have any advice other than to say that I converted both cars to H4's with high wattage bulbs (90W/100W) & relays. The improvement is well worth it.

A replacement H5 light/lens is $236 from Sunset. Still cheaper than going to H4 or HID.
I just bought one. I would love to go to HIDs but its just too much for me right now.

Yes, it is Bosch, its the factory replacement part from Sunset Porsche where I get all my factory parts from.
I have not replaced it yet. Its on my parts pile on my workbench.

Here are my thoughts.
I only want to go down this road once. I think best route for the money is H4 in order to keep the classic look of the 964.
This weekend I'm going to try to remove the lens from the H5 housing and glue the H4 lenses to them. If that doesn't work, I'm going to get the H4 kit. I'd hate to spend $250+ on a new H5 light and then have it break again or the other one break. Not sure it is a common occurrence that they break, but I don't want to deal with this type of expense down the road.

I think when you go H4 you will have to find someone to paint the new trim rings guards red.

I would be interested in H4 lenses too. Do they have the Bosch lettering on them?
