Default removing weight from Engine/ boot area

In November I am going to get an engine rebuilt, while it is out of the car are there any parts (aside from tinware which I am already going to get redone in fibreglass) that can be lightened or removed?

also, how, hard/easy is it to change the gearbox mount to RS spec?

Obviously the fan is on the list but what other bits can be lightened?

Remove rear blower fan, replace with RS duct (or block offs)

Remove airbox cover and replace with Fabspeed or cup type frame

Not much else to lighten in there I dont think

Headers and a nice muffler will save quite a bit of weight, as will an aftermarket composite rear lid.

wevo engine mountings have to be lighter

do you have air conditioning and if so could you live without it

engine lid dampers

sound deadening, don't remove but replace with something lighter like dynamat extreme

Lid dampers are already off and I have RS Mounts. Sound deadening mat could be interesting. Do we know what kind of savings could be made?

I know that it's not engine but a good weight saving at the important end would probably be to go with a fibreglass engine cover.

Yes was thinking about going for a ducktail but changed my mind on that... Wonder if there is a way of using standard spoiler but removing motor and gubbins and just sticking it open? And a fibreglass cover too

RS Flywheel will save a 20+ lbs.
Removing Power steering and putting 997 Cup electric steering will move weight to the front.

Have the RS wheel already.. Interesting on the powersteering but would not want to sacrifice feel with electric steering

This is not electric Steering, it uses an electric pump rather than a mechanical pump on the engine. double benefits: Frees up 8 to 10 whp and moves weight to the front.

I'm in the process of doing this very mod. Spent the evening making up a mount to hold the pump in such a way that I don't loose the ability to carry a spare wheel.

I too am gearing up to do the steering pump mod next. I bought the 964 mounting kit from Dawes Motorsport and already have the 997 RSR pump. All the gear is now patiently waiting for me to get my act together and start wrenching. Only thing I have to figure out is how to run the electric wiring - any advice is welcome.

+1 .... Sound deadening? A few grams.
Is there a rear under bumper/reinforcement to be drilled/shortened/removed?
