I can't understand why somebody isn't making aluminium versions from sheet. They're not that complicated in shape.

Well, the factory put them in the 993, 993RS, 993TT and 996TT so what does that tell you? The other advantage is that because the 993 crank is stiffer than the 964 crank it does not require the dual mass pulley, so that saves you £1000 should your 964 engine ever need a new one.....

Costs:

Mount and lines: ~ $300
Wiring: ~$25 (Big fuse etc)
Labor: (if you cannot do yourself) unsure probably around 5 hours all in. (not really sure I did mine over a number of different sessions)

All in: between $1000 and $2000 depending on who does the work.
Sounds exactly right - Mark Mathis on the cup board sells RSR pspump for $750 used. I posted there about mine. He's tops. Sounds cool, works well, feels a bit light but get used to it quick...

But unless youre racing like Kai et al, I'd imagine you can use the $$ elsewhere better ...

There are a few other options to the porsche pump. For example I'm using a mercedes unit that is almost identical to the porsche one and a fraction of the cost. I'll post some pics of the installed pump later tonight on my "964 Refurb" thread.
Now that's progress ... Looking fwd to it!

If you install an RS duct to remove the rear blower fan do you need to do any relay work?

I did a bit of research on RSR electric steering pumps and it seems that it is made by TRW for Porsche Motorsport

I did a bit more searching and it looks like certain Vauxhall Astra pumps, the TRW Gen 2 version looks almost identical on the outside compared to the RSR pump.

No idea about flow rates, pressure etc or the mechanical differences but seeing as Vauxhall version can be bought used for around £100-120 it could be a much cheaper option to try.

This pump worked for us, the hard part was locating a used core so we could fit a fully reconditioned unit.

the core unit is the old one you send back in exchange for a fully reconditioned version, just like when you buy an exchange engine.
