Supercharger Install Starts
Well the planning has started. I went from selling my car to now heading down the road installing a TPC supercharger with intercooler. I picked up the kit from a fellow Rennlister. The kit is in excellent condition with a lot of spare parts. It was installed on a 993 race car so it will be seeing a different life in my car.
I will start documenting the install with all the planning that goes into a project of this size. Should be a big learning experience.

Thanks Marc. I will be definitely asking some questions as I get into it. The whole kit with intercooler is slightly overwhelming. I am hoping to learn a lot in the process.
Here are few pics of the kit as well as where it will be going.

There was a 993 at the last DE with a TPC Supercharger. It was a very nice looking kit. His car ran very strong at the track. He said he upgraded the injectors to turbo injectors last year because it didn't drive all that great on the street. Since the injector upgrade (and chip reprogram) he's been very happy with it. His kit was installed by AutoEdge in Maplewood, MN. They're great guys and probably a resource for you, if you need some help.

That kit will take at least 40+ hours to install. This is what I did on my 993 which is very similar to the 964. Keep in mind my install was on a daily driver so I planned it for minimum downtime.
1. Install the water radiator and run the intercooler water hoses into the engine. This is a BIG task since you will be removing the front bumper and all the underbody panels to figure how to run the radiator lines.
2. Remove the stock intake system. Sounds hard/complicated, this is the simplest task. Just remember to document everything in case you want to put it back to stock.
3. Remove rear bumper to get to the engine holder bracket and crank pulley.
3.5 Pretty much do a 30k maintenance here since everything is out. You'll want new sparkplugs, distributor caps, possibly new wires, adjust valves, etc.
4. Install the supercharger, intake, and stuff.
5. Run the electrics.
6. Various tests and drive.
BTW, are you getting your unit controller reprogrammed?

Thanks for all the input.
Hi 911Jetta, saw your car parked at VIR LeManns last year. Love what you have done to the car. If you are down this way anytime, let me know. It is a terrible place to live down here. Went to school at UNC-CH, so miss it up there as well.
Hi axl911, thank you. Yes will have the unit reprogrammed by TPC. Already sent them an email to get the ball rolling. Will also try to plan everything up front to have minimal downtime. Will also add a plx gauge to make sure I can monitor everything once up and running.

Perhaps we can lean on each other and exchange tips/tricks/pictures during the install process?

Three Wheelin'
Groovy! Keep us updated as you go.
If you aren't already committed to the plx gauge, AEM do a cool looking combined Boost/AFR gauge that might work nicely.

Sending off Unichip tomorrow for the re-program. I have an extra back up unit, but will wait on that. Still have to get a few parts (hoses and other items) for the install.
Going with the plx system so that I can add as many gauges as needed:

Would love the gauge in the tach like Clewett has, but do not have the cash for that. Will be selling my 93 octane Steve Wong chip for funds (have to use stock chip). Also have a plastic intake that will be for sale as well (still have the old aluminum if I need to revert back for any reason).
Have a broken fuel gauge coming that I will gut for unit. Will probably need to hide the clock gauge back behind the dash since I will need that for the airbag and charging (at least that is what I have read).
