Hi Guys,

Finally, tonight the new A/C fittings have been erm.... fitted and the system re-gassed.

Pirtek made the fittings and alloy pipework. Initially they brought everything today and after Nick fitted it all it was slightly wrong, catching on the engine lid hinge and a couple of other places. All credit to them they came back and collected it again from Redtek then returned same day with the necessary adjustments made.

A big to Nick who stayed back tonight and fitted it all again.

Next week, she's coming home to have some bells and whistles fitted

Happy Easter
Paul

That is a beautiful engine...really like the rerouting of the AC lines...small detail...huge visual impact. Hope you get to get her home soon.

Hi Gaz,

Cheers. Yes, October to be exact. Hopefully we'll bump into each other again this year and I can see the fruits of your labour!

Thanks Nylasurf. The AC lines are a blot on the landscape but in terms of efficiency the shortest distance between two points is a straight line ha!

Gorgeous engine bay Paul.
+964!!!
Thanks for your comments guys, I'll post some better photos next week.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks Frank

Ok, so on Thursday I went down to Redtek to collect my car and all I can say is it's not the same car I left down there on October, for the 1,500 mile shakedown of the new 3.8 and a few other little jobs.

If the car I dropped down there was a cub, in the last 6 months over the winter it's now turned into a hungry man-eater. The power delivery is superb and relentless. For short periods the motorway on the way home when I had the chance to open her up a little the engine came "on cam" and it was almost like an out of body experience, it was so sweet and quiet, an almost "in the zone" dreamlike quality.

On Wednesday the car was finally sorted and the dyno tests done and as promised earlier thread I have them here for your perusal. I stress bhp was not my goal but nevertheless I'm very pleased with the results particularly the torque curve and Nick is very pleased. The temperature in the workshop was a balmy 32 deg. so not much oxygen on offer so in normal driving conditions (it was 16 deg. outside) it will feel all of that.

They got the car's year wrong on the document at 1995? but I'm sure she does look younger than her years

I must say the awful droning between 3 - 4k revs has now gone with the fitting of new Fabspeed rear box, the other former Fabspeed silencer apparently isn't suited to a 3.8 engine. If I'm honest there is a little drone lower down the revs at just over 2k but it doesn't last long and it's something which can be driven straight out of. The new box is also a little quieter than the previous one, so all in all I'm very happy.

The new Fuchs are going on this weekend then new inner arches with FVD brake scoop system, new splitter and Rennline pedal board.

Pics to follow soon.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks Stu

Now were Fuch'd

Sorry about picture quality but my pal kindly sent it from his tyre shop just after they were fitted, more to come soon. It looks kind of high on the rears but that could just be because it had just been dropped back onto it's suspension, we'll see.

More pics soon,
Paul

Very nice Paul, car is looking great and good dyno numbers.

Do you have any photos of the old Fabspeed setup verses the new setup?

Thanks Alex

There doesn't seem to be any difference in looks compared to the old Fabspeed rear box, it seems the difference lies within.

Apparently for a 3.8 the exhaust gases from each bank of pistons have been re-routed in the new rear silencer so they don't meet as in the old box which a caused resonance between the 3 -4 rev range. The new (sport) box seems a little quieter although this could be just that the resonance has gone now. It's certainly a lot more relaxing to drive. There is still a little lower on the rev range at just over 2k but it's a very small band of maybe 2-4 hundred revs which is usually driven out of anyway and it's nowhere near as loud or irritating.

Cheers,
Paul
