Default 993 door handles

Hi all,

Seen a few threads about fitting 993 door handles on the 964 is that easy to do, do the standard barrels from my car fit in the handles.

I'm looking to colour code them if its a nice easy mod to do.

Look forward to hearing from you.

You need to make sure you get all the parts. Wachuko had problems.

David,
I'm doing the 993 door handle project too- new handles haven't arrived yet but knowing I won't get out in the car for a couple weeks anyway I've taken all the door cards, 964 handles etc off today in preparation, 2 hours tops including tidy up, cig breaks etc - FYI so you can plan your project.

I'm planning to do a full write up with photos but not until the new handles arrive and are painted, until then if you need any reference photos that you cannot find on rennlist then let me know. also, I'd recommend per-ordering a new set of the door seals/stickers, not easy to take off or re-fit existing ones in one piece.

J81 sounds like a plan, I'll hang off until you do yours and see what's involved.

Good man.

Easy mod. Moving the cylinder from yours to the new assembly is also easy to do. But you need the following... used, new, whatever, but you need them all:

993-537-938-00 - Internals - Right
993-537-937-00 - Internals - Left
993-537-661-00 - Handle - Right
993-537-661-00 - Handle - Left (yes, both are the same...)
993-537-621-00 - Gasket Small (need 2)
993-537-631-00 - Gasket Large (need 2)

You can reuse the washer and nuts from your old handles... I will look for the part numbers for those and update the post with them. Just in case you want to use all new parts.

Handle: These you paint to match the color of your car.
Internal assembly: You know that chrome piece around the area where the key goes in? Yeah, does not come with the handle, comes with the internals...
Gaskets
Cylinders from your old handles. Be sure to do this slowly, with luck the old grease will keep the blades in place and the swap is easy. If not, make sure you hold the blades in the cylinder in place as you remove and install in the new one.

I hope that helps. Here is the link to my thread when I did the first swap for my SC->RS project.

How to install 993 door handles on early 911?

BTW, best price I found on new parts was from Sunset Porsche.

You can also keep looking at ebay to grab a used set.

It's a nice reversible modification especially if you do the 993 arrow mirrors too.
