I have records of 4 964s w/ 8.5 fronts all use 225/40 x17 or 18 tires all have ET from 50 to 56

ThomasC2 seems to have a perfect setup, I'd go w/ what he has in back
10ET65 w/ 21mm spacer a have records of 3 of these all seem to have rolled lips and flattened oil lines, 1 10 ET65 w/ a 15mm spacer but no feedback on it

Frank my Works are 10J rear ET 43 and I'm running a 6mm spacer so effectively ET37. Rolled lip.

I track with this set up too so it's not a stance thing although I do have a fair bit of negative camber obviously.

Looking at going 8.5J and 10.5J on next set so you should be all good.

Yeah, the E28 is "da sh-t"!. But so hard to find. The mag centres do crack so that makes them even harder to find. I have the older version which I think looks even better. You can only find used sets but there's a rumour now that BBS will make a batch of the newer style as above in this thread.

Otherwise BBS har replaced the E28 with the E88 in alumnium but it's not near as manly and raw as the E28. Finally I think silver looks good. Gold is cool but suits aome colours better than others. On my car gold would have been too much.

The original owner of the wheels had them on his Cup car. Pics.
He ran,
Fronts with a 3mm shim = ET52 (coincides with the aforementioned ).
Rears with an 8mm shim = ET47 (however 8mm shims imo are a bit large for a track car).

Brilliant feedback Sean - thanks.
In that case I may try ET55 - 15mm adapter = ET40. This way I wouldn't have to change wheel studs.

I assume your running 265?
Question is - what camber are you running at the rear?

Custom geometry = Chris Franklin and Centre Gravity.

Chris changed my C4 set up completely and totally transformed the handling. After taking in my typical and occasional driving style (fast road with occasional track) he applied what he calls the 'Hokenheim' set-up - apparently an original set up used by one of the ex-Porsche test drivers for the 964 at the time. Maybe message / IM me if you like and I can forward the spec...

you can read the details in my link above but with my Kuhmo 265 tyres, I had full negative camber (I watched the alignment guy and it definately was the max it could be adjusted) and I could not not get 10ET40 to fit without a fender roll.

obviously other factors are ride height and spring rates.

my rear was below RS height .. I think RS-10 from memory.

a few guys have 10ET40, but they seems to have slightly higher ride heights (and they must have firm springs).

Yup he seems to be the Guru - was actually talking about him earlier today.

Thanks SML - I had read your thread. It seems that with your -2 camber and ET40 you didn't need the flare in the end?

My arch lips are already folded absolutely flat.

i'm not 100% sure to be honest.

my process was:

1.) install coilovers & setup ride heights
2.) take to alignment shop for geo settings - rear wheels didnt fit with max neg camber at low height
3.) take to body shop for fender roll & flare

after step 2, i studied the car and it definately was not going to work untouched at the low ride height, hence drove (with the old wheels) down to the bodyshop. I didnt want to spend 10hrs of labour with the bodyshop guy taking the wheels on & off numerous times, so we just flattened that lip and flared the fender about 8mm or so .. then afterwards thought there is now more clearance than really required.

in hindsight, i should have bought my own lip rolling tool for a few hundred bucks and spent extra time doing it super slowly & carefully myself.

the tyres will make a difference also ... the corner profile of 265 tyres between brands will probably vary.

pretty much irrelevant without camber specs.

whilst watching my alignment guy tweak the camber, from neutral to full negative (about -2 deg), this moved the corners of the tyre about 10-15mm.

I believe I'm at -2.5 on the rear but let me double check. Will get some proper pics for you asap this week (hopefully by Wed). Yes, running 265s but could go wider.

Good thread stance wise. I'm running 255/40 on 10et40 on eibach and blistering he's and rub occasionally so i had to raise, but it still looks good. With -2.5 degrees of camber.
