Default 1993 964 C2 Coupe LSX/LS7 MODDED G50 Build

this build is not for the purists. but will be fun. i purschased the car several years ago/2008 from north hollywood porsche. i flew into burbank and drove it home to oklahoma with no issues. was a fun drive. a very clean, low mile 964 c2, 26k miles. wimbledon green with black leather interior. car was spotless and perfect inside and out. it already had some nice upgrades, a rsa tail, new Bilstein nurburgring coilovers with hr green springs. the later 964 4piston brembos already came on 93's. already had front brake vents in the bumper. it had 996 18" classic wheels and michelins. i put 18" turbo twists with new michelin pilots on it recently. i put new brembo cross drilled rotors on car, new stainless brake hoses. i installed new timken front and rear wheel bearings on the car. i rebuilt the axles. put elephant racing heim adjustable rear pivot arms. new spherical bearings for suspension bushings, monoballs, adjustable camber plates. have a new front splitter for the car, new 7075 strut brace i made in my machine shop. the car has a g5005 with the 9tooth pinion and 30tooth ring gear which is the tallest oem g50's 3.33 diff ratio. then i have g5052 2nd thru 5th gear making it a 217.62 gearbox wind drag limited. i have a kep g50 adapter and flywheel, a kevlar clutch and turbo pressure plate. the motor is a new lsx 427ci 7.0litre ls v8, forged lunati voodoo crankshaft, forged lunati voodoo h beam rods with arp 2000 rod bolts, forged wiseco pistons, total seal rings. arp head studs, arp 6bolt main studs, complete arp bolt kit for motor. patriot performance stage 3 cam .630 lift .226 duration. patriot 243 heads with patriot titanium keepers and retainers, comp cams .630 springs, heads are cnc ported and polished. ls3 intake and 102mm tb and maf, cai, ss headers, ss mufflers. according to patriot 600hp on motor alone, with pump gas. 11.5:1 compression, so 93 oct will be a must. griffin 3core aluminum radiator, meziere electric water pump. i have all the parts for the build already. i am building 4 ls v8 911's at once, but this is the most intensive one of them all.

You put a 427 in a 26K mile Porsche!

You've got serious brass I wouldn't have the courage. We need pictures.

ya the 3.6 was ok, but not noteworthy. it had cams, cai, ghl headers, and a tune. i have been in porsche 911's for close to 30yrs. i have gone down the 25grand 3.4 twin plug ge80cams 50pmo 911 motor build and still wasnt enough hp or tq. so without doing turbo or supercharger to a 911 motor and still spending more $$$ i went the ls v8 route. less money and more hp. again, the purists wont like it much. and yes 20yrs ago i would have never thought of putting a cheby motor in a 911 but the ls motors are nice powerplants and make sensible $$$ comparisons.

in comparison, the ruf rgt8 is an aluminum 8 cylinder car and it is not a porsche motor in it. not that much difference here.

The RGT8's V8 is a 4.5 liter, has a flat plane crank, weighs less than a 997 3.8, has a lower center of gravity, and revs to 8500. I get that you want more power than a 964 flat 6 can offer, but stuffing a pushrod Chevy V8 into a 911 isn't what Ruf did.

You are correct. Alois Ruf designed their own v8 engine. my hats off to them. i dont have that capability or money. so this is the best option i have for my purposes. the 7.0 lsx/ls7 is 38lbs lighter than the 3.6 motor. and it sits lower in the engine bay than the 3.6. so the center of gravity isnt moved by much at all. likely less than 5% if that much. have you actually seen a ls v8 964? the motor is small compared to the 3.6. tons of room in the engine compartment. and although the ls is a "pushrod chevy v8" thats the only prehistoric comparison that can be kept with it. 6 bolt mains, forged crank, forged rods, forged pistons, full roller motor that makes 505hp stock out of the box.
