wifes daily driver, hummer h3 alpha adventure. alpha; stands for "all options", all aluminum 5.3 ls v8, touchscreen nav, bluetooth hands free, leather, heated seats and mirrors, pwr everything, sunroof, etc etc etc. adventure; stands for 4:56 gears, front and rear lockers, 4:1 transfer case, factory 1" lift and factory 285/33" tall tires. since this pic it now has additional 2" lift and 315/35" tall bfg all terrains. so yes her sc ls1 911 is just a toy.

I am waiting for gm to build an H4 based off the cruze chassis. If a copy of a copy is cool then a copy of a copy of a copy will be awesome.

Ruf964,

I too have been tempted by the swap. Few questions for you:

Are you planning to run heat & AC? If so, can you share the details? I live in Houston so AC would be a must.

What front bumper are you planning on using to accommodate the radiator?

I just posted these same questions on Don Nguyen's LS conversion thread.

Thanks!

Kyle

yes i will be running heat and ac. i am running a custom street rod or hot rod inline ss heater box with blower plumbed into the original 964 heat ducts under the car by the trans. for ac run the gm ls1 compressor, and the rest still the 964ac parts. take the 964 ac lines to a hose shop and have the gm ends put on the 964 hoses.

edit; forgot the front bumper question. im running the stock 964 front bumper cover but i redesigned the lower openings to resemble the 993 turbo front bumper cover. looks nice imo and will be very effective.

another clutch trick is to use a 964/965 pressure plate. start with a new one and a used one. take them both to your local clutch rebuild store. have them take the straps off both pp's and put 3 per location back on the new pp. it starts with 2 per location. this will make the lbs per square inch stronger by about 400-500ftlbs on the pressure plate without making the pedal effort much more.

several ppl have asked... the ls wiring doesnt need integrated into the porsche harness. use a ls1 stand alone wiring harness and pcm with 5 wire hookup. retain the porsche ecm to run the chassis and dash. keep the porsche 964 engine sensors and adapt to the ls1. the only gauge you will need to alter is the tach as the ls1 pcm runs off a 4cyl signal. weird but true. so i have a 964 tach with 914 tach guts in it. or hollywood speedometer can make you one.

Can't the GM PCM run the tach by programming it to put out a 6 cylinder signal? This is what is done on the E36 swaps. The GM PCM I used is from an F-Body, these PCM's were used in 6 & 8 cylinder cars. How many wires to the tach on a 964?
