Love the wheels... change to a black Carrera stripe? (or change the centers to blue??)
Also, I vote for diamond quilted suede all over. Looks so nice.
You're having a lot of fun with your 64!

thanks guys .. kind words and some great ideas.

Udo I have the boxter 17s with semis in blue so I went with the 'classic' black.
Carrera script in black could be pretty cool too!
Rob the wheels come off that viper green RS clone with ITBs that I posted pics of a while back
.. sold and he had 2 sets of those wheels ... lucky me.

Looking forward to seeing the door cards in a week or two!

Then the last leg to completion:
1. new windscreen goes in, glued
2. 993 rear calipers on ... and all corners red
3. fan goes silver
4. Carrera 3.8 script goes onto rear firewall shelf
5. door cards go in
6. bumpers resprayed (match to side mirrors)
7. case of octane boost ... to be used liberally, like after shave in Mykonos

Leak down and compression today ... After a pressure clean and 50km run
The only leak/sweat seems to be from behind head on 2 and 5
Valve covers and timing chain covers all bone dry
Dep on the numbers above I'll likely just live with them small leak
As not planning on going into engine now ... Any other possible sources for that 2,5 leak?

Edit - comp & leak down numbers all good ie 12-13 on all cylinders and 6-8% leak
So after valve cover and gasket replace I hope to find the drips gone
And just the sweating from 2,5 seals to live with ... Reality is a choice

Sand blasting in process ...
Rear 993 C2 calipers - thanks Paul

Thinking clear coat for these

And red ones here .... Tempted to go blue ala Carrera stripe ... But stripe can change color more easily

I see the hex-head bolts that hold the plates had green locktite on them
Is that stronger than blue? google says it's for electrical applications ... ??

Also going to do the stencil re the PORSCHE on the caliper ...
I think it's likely better than the vinyl and clearcoat route.

prep - card, suede, stapler, spray glue, roller

stretching the leather made it look best

done! - door handle at elbow while cruising height

lets hope they complete the interior redo picture just right!

making the most of my days off .... here's a morning of paint stripper and then some liberally applied polish and a wheel .... looks amazing all cleaned up

now to decide between powder coat or clear coat?!

not sure what the clear coat would do with heat though ... any input?

powder coat brings it own challenges - I think silver is best for the fan but for the surround?

1. Black looks good - contrast with the fan looks great
2. but silver/silver would also ...
3. in between ie gunmetal grey housing vs silver fan also
4. gold fan (ala the plated metal) also a viable but potentially too blingy option

I've seen bold colors (yellow, orange, blue) on surround which is amazing .... in the right car.

I guess it also depends on the pulleys to some degree:
Can I powdercoat the pulley's without messing with balance/harmonics/anything else?

You engine bay aesthetes have a view? (yes I know red is for black/red cars )

^^ LoL yes I knew .. just thought Betty was trying to paint us all black

Thanks re door cards - I know you've been thinking about them too
I'm liking the plush myself ... only fitting them later as ..
running out of time .... so car in the race shop for:
the valves,
little dents and scratches,
new glass and rust bubble investigation in the usual place (bottom right of glass)
ceramic coating of hubs
paint correction

so I'll only fit the door cards last ... but I think they'll blend in a bit and just add that little swish to the interior
which I hope will be matched by the uplifted engine bay and smoothed exterior!

thanks Stu for the inspiration ... half way done and looking immeasurably better
is the OEM fitment to mold this up tight to the inside of the bumper, or should it be loosely fitted to the inside?
this one came in the mail and was folded in half!

the blue boxer rims (17's, avatar) got some use yesterday as the semis are fresher
... nice that they fit both cars even if they look way too small on the 996

That polished look really good. Clear power coat it!!!

If you don't do it, I will polish/powercoat mine and call it original.
