Default my rs suspension is killing me!

so i have an rs america with an upgraded rs suspension, but it's WAY to hard to drive on new york city streets..basically i've lost all my fillings from bouncing up and down...SO, i'm thinking of going back to stock rs america suspension-does anyone have any idea what's needed, and what that will cost? and does anyone want to buy my rs suspension components from me?

What's needed is basically everything; non RS top mounts, non-RS dampers, non-RS springs, non-RS bump stops....etc. Have a look at PET, basically everything has different part numbers: http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...artscatalogue/

Either do a complete swap, or alternatively I know of someone here in Holland who is selling his Intrax RS-suspension kit with external canisters (excluding RS pillow ball top mounts). These are completely adjustable for bump and rebound, and are fitted with 'dime a dozen' motorsport springs.

The standard RS dampers feature very high bump settings making the suspension very jumpy/crashy on less than smooth roads. Accordingly, Adjustable motorsport dampers can make for a much more compliant ride even with STIFFER springs fitted! Moton and JRZ's separate high speed bump valving is especially known for this.

Here's a link (no affiliation): http://www.porscheforum.nl/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=36504

I gues it all depends whether you want some real performance out of your RS when visiting the track???

Go with adjustable PSS10s. They are a great compromise.

I loved my PSS9s for a compromise of street and track or even street only.

That sounds like just the ticket! To be honest, I'm not really tracking the car at the moment, but it sounds like the pss10's will make the car much more driveable on the miserable New York streets-evoderby-you're exactly right when you say the rs suspension is crashy/jumpy

Just so I understand, I could install the pss10's with my current rs suspension, and suddenly it'll be like driving on velvet? (Sort of)

The PSS9's which were replaced with the PSS10's have a similar spring rate as your RS set-up.

If you are truly looking for a soft ride, I would look at the OE springs and shocks.

If you're thinking of tracking your car at any time in the future, go with the adjustable PSS10's; the best of all worlds.

Philt68,

Before you swap everything out, why not try Eibach progressive springs first? I have them fitted running RS set up and they are fine even on the UK' s awful road surfaces.

It might save you big bucks.....

Hope it helps,

Cheers,

Mark. 90 C2.

You need specific RS-type damper rods to fit the RS pillow ball top mounts. When going Bilstein these can be found here:

http://www.albertweb.de/fahrzeugkata...bstimmung.html

I don't know who that Walter dude is in the photo's but he seems to be happy ;-)

Having said so true motorsport dampers like JRZ and Moton are in a different league altogether. At half the price of the Billies I'd choose the (used) Intrax competition set all day long (tune the springrates to your liking with $80 pair generic motorsport springs).

Isn't there any suspension shops that could re-valve the kit you have now?
This is the case with motorbikes, almost every aftermarket and even the original shocks can be re-valved to suit your driving.

Do you know any locals with 964s or 993s? Go for a ride with them before spending any more $$$. Spring rates don't tell the whole story... Ride quality is so subjective that most written descriptions on the internet are (unfortunately) worthless. At best they might get you into the ballpark!
