Default Why so few 964 turbos?

Recently realised I had seen no posts on the Turbo here...or pics. And have seen none at our meets. Are they so rare?

In they UK, they're definitely in the collectors category these days so you tend to only see them on special occasions in the summer. My buddy Simon (Sifly) admits that he doesn't get many opportunities to use his (mostly due to work). Josh (Wagonface) brought his on the annual Donington trackday in July.

We had three turn up at the East Midlands meet a few years ago.....now that was a sight to behold!

I'll try and find the pics.

But that is just a technical section.. surely this general 964 section also applies to them?

I guess they prefer to post in their own 'technical section'
I always go onto it to admire the pics of their cars

I always post in the Turbo section.. It just seems more relevant.. I do reference back to this forum all the time for tips and tricks, and post general stuff in the Canadian section.

The root cause is that Turbo owners are just rich wallet mechanics who like driving a nice car, not true Porsche enthusiasts like us Carrera owners.

lol, joking.

Jack,

We had 2 turn up tpgether at one of the early London meets

I know Olly has sold his since, and now has a 993 I think, but Spencers car (the horizon blue one) is getting big engine mods, but I think he mainly posts over on Pelican regarding it

Pics here

Anybody actually driving a 20 year old Porsche must be an enhusiast... rich wallet, not true Porsche enthusiasts would get something different.

And it's great there are plenty of not true enthusiasts to keep this great marque going

PS. If I could find a good condition 3.6T I would consider it... financial conditions permitting ofcourse.

This is true. Long story short, I was meant to be leaving the UK but ended up staying. Sold the car as part of the prep of moving.

Gone but never forgotten. Would buy it back in a heart beat if I could.

got a 993 C4s now so can`t complain too much. Actually its nicer to drive (more planted) but gutless compared to the 400 bhp I had in the turbo. Though it was only a matter of time before the turbo killed me........could have been my poor driving.

To answer the OP, yes most turbo owners hang out in the turbo section. Got our own picture threads and everything so not just technical stuff..
