No, I'm not on PGT. The short story is that I knew Baf was looking for a black 964RS and linked him up with one (my buddy's old car) which he bought. I then met Baf at our Spa trip last year where he took his GT3RS4.0. He mentioned that he had recently bought your car with the intention of racing it.
A fine fella with a fine stable of cars and a good wheel man to boot.

Ah, makes sense. I haven't seen the '64 RS yet. I've been on a couple of Spa trips with him but not with the 4.0. Always great fun!
He didn't race "my" car as shortly after he bought it the opportunity came up to buy Lee's (GT Two?) car which was in a much more track optimised state and is obviously a much better car overall than my one which hasn't been subject to so much attention.
My car was used as a daily and on winter tyres for a bit of fun, but when you've got the other toys available it became superfluous.
It's my first weekend car, and I'm going to fettle it a little bit with a view to doing some trackdays and hopefully as far afield as Belgium.

Thanks. It came with the car uninstalled and is a full cage for sunroof car, and needs mounting points fitted (i.e. not the type that bolts to the seatbelt mounting points). I will be having it fitted as a half-cage, discarding the front section.
I'm also doing a sunroof delete...

Well, time for a thread update as the car nears completion. After buying the car (having had it on approval for a few weeks) it was off to my friend's bodyshop to attend to the faults there. These were;
- Leaking sunroof
- Poor joins where roof had been fitted
- Possible leaking windscreen
- NSR wing
- Damaged rear GRP bumper
He would also fit the Heigo roll cage which came with the car.
He decided it would be simpler to blow paint over the whole car rather than try and match paint.
Evidence of poor join of wing panel
What looked like a rust bubble in the wing was a hole and evidence of filler
A lot of filler!
A few kilos we reckoned
Sodden soundproofing - a familiar problem it seems, the drainage channels in the sunroof were all blocked.
The wing would have to go
New one purchased
Decided it was cheaper and preferable to delete the sunroof than fix it . I did a separate thread https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...e-sunroof.html
New wing on
Dodgy joins cut out
New sections welded in
More to come.........

So, now the car is with James, Ken and co at www.nineexcellence.com in Horley, Surrey. Mechanical snag list from the PPI was to attend to the following;
- Car hunting at idle - clean ICV
- Clutch pedal low biting point - replace slave cylinder
- Minor oil leaks around cam covers - remove, skim and fit new gaskets.
- Oil cooler fan resistor
- Bracket for oil tank
- Replace NSR axle strut which was bent
- Brakes would need attention at some point
In addition I had decided to
- Service
- Fit harnesses
- Steve Wong chip
- Upgrade front brakes to 928S4, move front calipers to rear etc. Bought some s/hand eBay 993 calipers which were not as described, so bit the bullet and bought new, 9e having secured a special price
- Fit Rennline strut brace
- 9e cat bypass, cup pipe and exhaust tip
- Geometry
- Cup floor boards
- Cup Momo steering wheel
- RS bonnet strut (dampers are shot) as you can see from pics we are making do with a 917 one for now.
- RSS engine mounts
ICV was beyond salvage so I have bitten bullet and bought new.
James has reinstalled the cage with an improved fitment over what my bodyshop managed and used better quality fixings.
I visited last week and this is the progress so far. I am over the moon with James' attention to detail, and he has tidied up plenty of small details along the way.
Southbound Alcantara headlining
New axle strut - ouch £££
RS LSD recently fitted by Tuthills for PO
RSS engine mounts, seems a shame to hide them away
