Default Will these BBS wheels fit a 964 C2?

Evening All,

Quick question re: these wheels. Do you think they will fit a 964 C2? I would prefer a straight fit without rolling the guards. Sizes are - 8.5 x 18" et55 and 10 x 18" et55. They are a BBS E28 mags with magnesium centre.

Seems the magnesium centres are not made anymore as per Carnewals website.

Update 2012 :
The BBS racing wheels with Magnesium centers are outdated and no longer produced. The current default wheel center are the aluminium ones. The alu centers are lighter, stronger and will last a lot longer than the Magnesium wheels. Only on request with an unknown lead time, BBS will make wheels with Magnesium centers, but they do it solely for nostalgic/historic reasons.

It would appear that aluminium is far superior to magnesium as per the notes above. I recall the 964RS cup wheels being made from magnesium though (could be wrong).

Pics of said wheels below. I just happen to see them for sale and quite liked the look of them.

I think they will. If you have a Pelican account, check this post, looks like the same style BBS wheel.

yes they do look the same. Looks good. Just wondering if there is a width and offset issue at all to be aware of

OH WOW! If you don't buy them let me know!

Here is a great offset calculator - http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp I'll do some digging - I think I may have some info about wheel fitment of those sizes...

Right I couldn't find the threads I wanted to - however looking on the AP Car design website their wheels on 964s seem to be in the range of: Front 52-56ET for 8.5 Rear 47-65ET for 10.
10 rears are large, you may have an issue with the rear wheel rubbing on the oil line, which can be flattened and may need to roll the arch depending on how low you want to be.

EDIT: BBS wheels can be ordered in specific widths, offsets to suit different cars... Have these been fitted to a 964 before?

The car above is mine and a found a used set of E28 mag rims this winter and had them refurbished during the spring. I wanted to try 18" to get a more stable rear end and reduce a flex I felt in high speed corners. My thought was that the 17" tyres got to much load so a lower profile would maybe solve the problem, and it did. The rear end feels much better now.

But I wanted "time correct" wheels and I don't like modern rims on a 964. I also didn't want to add more weight which narrowed my options down to more or less only one way to go, the BBS E28. I really like the thick spokes, the rough casting of the spokes and the black nuts. The set I bought was in silver and I painted them in the same colour. Gold looks cool but not on a black car, especially with stickers like mine. It just looks to much. I'm really happy with the look and I saved 3-4 kg per corner (tyre and rim)compared with my Cup1 wheels. A cool thing I learned from a guy att BBS here in Sweden is that the part number on my rim centers says the are made for the 964 RSR. Porsche ordered a modified centre, a little different angle of the rear side of the spokes, to fit over the big red calipers.

Your front ET will work but optimal would be closer to 50. But 8,5 would maybe be to wide. The rears will fit with a 10-12 mm spacer. My rear rims are ET65 so I have a 21 mm spacers and with ET44 they now fits perfectly. I have no rubbing front or rear. I don't know the widht of the outer rim half of the front rims but it looks like 1,5", and if that's the case you can just buy two new 1,0" outer half to get 8".

I also run with some camber and the inner lip of my rear fenders were already rolled but I think it would work without that mod. My camber is -2,8 front and -2,3 rear. Tyres are Michelin Cup 225 front and 265 rear.

Carnewal is probably correct about that the alu rims are even stronger and a little lighter but I think the mag E28 looks a lot better.

But them if you can because the are really hard to find these days and holds their value.

I just sold a pair http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...4-fitment.html They will fit with spacers. SML is correct the ET's will need to get down to around 44 for the rear wheels and 47 for the fronts.Of course its very dependent upon size of tires you choose. Pictures do not do the wheels justice.

Here are a couple of pics of the wheels on the car they came off......a 964 Cup car.

Bassam - thanks for the pics on a GR car.....they look great.

Gert from Carnewal mentioned that he sells the E88 BBS and for the front he usually provides 8's rather than 8.5's.

You see the difference in the design if you compare the latest alu version on the red car compared to mine and the others. The spokes are much thinner and there's no black nuts..
