Had my first track experience today at Llandow circuit in South Wales, its short but cheap n cheerful and was a good starter for me I think, had an awesome day and my driving came on a lot. That said I've still got plenty to learn; I need to trust my ability/car a bit more, although I was quite concerned about idiots smashing up my pride and joy... Hit the link for a go pro video of one of my sessions if anyones interested.

Nice little circuit, looks quite quick too, perfect intro to track days.

And great prices too. At an advertised £80 it's got me thinking this may have to be visited next year!

just coming back to tyre size, by going for a wider than standard tyre on the front I understand more rubber is on the road. Since the tyre width is now wider than standard on the same width wheel (assuming 205 was the original tyre width) do you get the wheel rolling over the tyre i.e. wheel pushing to the edge of the tyre? If not, is this certainly the width to go for?

A 7 inch rim can cope with a 225 no problems. The rear wheels of early boxsters were 7 inch rims and came with 225 tyres as standard fitment.

However, while rolling over the rim has not been a problem, you DO get rubbing in the arches with a 225 tyre.

One of the reasons for choosing the 225/45 is because the Toyos are not available as a 205/50/17. So you have to go for the 225/45/17 which gives a similar rolling radius.

Thanks. I'd not spotted the profile difference. Is the rubbing on the inside or outside?

The rubbing on mine is on inside walls. There's no rubbing on the wing arches. I don't have the updated 10 mm steering stops. These might reduce the rubbing but would also reduce the turning circle. I think of it of one of those things I have to put up with when tracking the car.
