More focused on stiffness and suspension now as w 3.8 and less wight the car feels almost brutal.
Brutal, in the best possible way!

It would weigh a little less of you took some oil out... lol.
It just looks mega. Love all the touches, definitely something very special to drive.

Ok - I'll play - this is a picture of my balance results with ¾ tank of petrol and 150 pounds in for driver. Figure that puts can in around 2365 lbs

^^ wowzer Gus so 1072 kg !? that's another 100kg off my weight ... is that CF doors?

AHA!

GUS: I have pulled and replaced all removable body parts with fiberglass. Front fenders, nose, doors, roof, rear deck and rear bumper. Replaced seats with PP. Of course a lot of other smaller stuff has been removed as I have worked on car.

Yes, dropping the metal doors and glass did the trick. I was surprised at how heavy the doors really are. I did add back extra side support and a full cross brace under the dash to the roll bar set up I have. But still not as heavy as the doors are. I might say that the water tight feature has somewhat gone south in a rain though.
I was really pleased at how well we were able to balance the corners -

HiWind, mind sharing who makes the seats in your car? Impressive weights from you and of course Gus.

HI Tjb ... those are early 90s aftermarket from Japan I think ... true RS seat shape but in Kevlar.
I am having some made in CF for the other car locally as I found a mould.

for those who has rs carpet. at least on the rear shelf. did you remove original sound proofing material and put new stuff in? I know the old stuff weights a lot. So getting rid of them makes sense. does it balance out the weight saving by putting dynamat or the like back in ?

Ah very nice. I know 9M is making an RS bucket replica in carbon, but yours appears to have taller shoulder strap pass throughs, which I'm in need of.

It's quite popular to take out the heavy stuff and replace it with closed cell foam, which weighs nearly nothing. That won't do much for noise though.

Can someone please tell me a source for CF doors? high quality of course. I just bought bonnet and rear deck-lid from bühler carbon in full carbon and would also give well mad CF doors (with orig. glas frame) a try.

I am down to 1230 with an empty fuel tank and with everything in steel and as a C4. With the CF stuff from marcus, i am down to 1215kg. Next would be electrical steering...

I removed all of the original soundproofing on my car then replaced it with dynamat and dynaliner. Another poster weighed the original soundproofing at 16.7kg. I installed 3.1kg of dynamat and 13kg of dynaliner. So it was a push in my case.

I 2nd DP Motorsport, used their carbon roof on a work project and thought it was a very good quality part

Gus, HiWind and Koenig_R keep living the lightweight dream

My lightweight crusade has taken a back seat for now, I'm enjoying reading about your adventures so keep it coming

AHab! Welcome back .. please post some redacted pics from 'a work project'

Problem for me is the risk of injury with a front cage car on the road seems too high
... so I can't do the doors.

My plan: Sunroof delete next then steering rack, CF parts where I can make them (tunnel cover, fuel cover etc.. )
..then adding weight (rear cage). Can I make it to 1100 ex fuel (current 1165kg)?

ps - what's that rear flush window do aero wise? less noise? Lighter?

Definitely less weight, more sound (U.S. doesn't get GT3 RS Plexi rear windows and screen on like ROW gets...).

Originalgewicht: ca. 7100 g (Glas) - Gewicht: ca. 2300 g (Plexi) = ~5 KG savings.
