Default My 964 weight!

3003 lbs I really wish I would have removed the tool kit, extra lug wrench, and air pump from the boot. It would have been 2,999 without that stuff.. Now its time to balance her in a little better. How does this weight compare to other 964's ???

Thanks
Joe

Sure you're happy with those cross weights?

To answer your question, I had the '92 C4 anywhere from 3100-3250 when I competed with it, the RSA stock class racer just over the 2760 minimum, and the RSA that was to replace it on track (but never did as a real race car) right at 3000.

Oops. On second read I see you mention adjusting. Guess this was how it rolled on the scales?

Thanks race911. And yes I need to work on the cross weights. although it feels really planted in the twisty roads.

My C2 weighted in at 2990 lbs without the spare, tool kit, jack, trunk carpet, washer reservoir, radio/speakers, heater and engine sound pad. Car also has a g pipe. I was surprised that it was not lighter. Stock seats carry a lot of weight and probably represent the easiest way to lighten up.

My cross weights prior to sending the car to the alignment shop were:

592 594
887 917

These likely changed.

kaiB = How did you chop 700 lbs out of your car - how much is fiberglass or carbon fiber now?
What all have you pulled or replaced?/

The corner weights are interesting.

My track car ( '90 964C2) has LF 506 , RF 543 , LR 831 and RR 869 ....total 2749 lbs with half tank fuel.

It has been stripped out so is not stock , no rear seats or sound mat , no aircon , no sunroof or electric windows , lightweight battery , carbon fibre hood and glassfibre rear deck. Weight was put back in when a full bolt in cage and lightweight carpet was fitted , bringing it close to 964RS lightweight.

However it is RHD so has all the oil system and all the driver controls on right side , you cant balance up cross weights without putting weight back in !!

Gus, virtually everything which can come out is out.

Beyond the obvious stuff, the wiring harness has been stripped of anythig not necesary to operation of the car, the sunroof top was replaced, the hood, doors and rear deck are CF and the windows are Lexan.

Added in are the cage, of course, the secondary oil cooler and its oil and the power steering pump.

I'll loose a bit of weight this winter when the rear rotors get replaced with AP 2 piece floaters, but outside of an acid dip, that's about all that can come off.

I actually add ballast to meet class weight.

Carbon roof?

Weight removed from the highest point of the car - Even if you do have to re-add it at least you can choose the optimum position for it.

All non-load bearing / structural bolts can be replaced with ally ones as rally cars do. Doesn't sound like much but it all adds up very quickly! The devil is in the detail and 9 times out of 10 there are places to pull more mass out of if you wanted to.

Nah, no CF roof!

Club CR requires arm straps anyway if the roof is not steel.

No need to loose more weight really, not yet.
