Default Windshield ?

I was quoted $1,400.00 for a replacement windshield.

Any aftermarket recommendations?

I had been giving this some thought because of the possibility of breaking it during removal/reinstall while performing a rust repair and I figured maybe $600-700 max (which, IMO, is already a lot of $!).

Here's one on eBay for less than $600.

F*ck!! Mine cracked on the way to Hershey this year and I haven't bothered to look yet due to sticker shock. Just checked www.dcauto.com and they say $325.00 part number 964.541.011.00 and its in stock.

Thanks for the info.

I am in the transportation industry and can't imagine shipping a windshield.

Anyone received a windshield via UPS ?

Do you guys have insurance for this type of thing? I do, or at least I thought I did. I deductible is much less than those quoted costs.

I'd recommend a factory Porsche windshield and gasket. They're the only ones that fit correctly. You risk the rust bubble at the bottom edge that we all seem to have.

Sunset Porsche got me a good deal on mine. They ship them...

I can tell you one thing for certain: this is not a job for some 1-800 fly-by-night glass shop. You really need an expert to install these windshields, otherwise the squeaking and rattling will drive you crazy from what I've read.
