Body coloured dash
Hi Everyone,
For a while I've considered the idea of having the dash around the dials painted red to match the colour of the car.
Over the weekend, I noticed a thread on the 993 board where somone had installed the below carbon cover which is a lot easier than having to re-paint the actual dashboard...
My thinking it that I could just paint this, and install it, but since it's Carbon Fibre does anyone know anywhere that sells them in fibreglass or plastic as I guess that'd likely be cheaper.
Thanks!

Here's the thread one the 993 forum where I saw this...
Carbon Trim Installation Thread
Surely this is something that could be done a lot cheaper for those not wanting the carbon look, or perhaps in carbon that's not been varnished etc.

Hi everyone!
Just to bring this thread up to date, I'm planning to have some bodywork done during the winter, so I asked Marcus at http://www.kunststofftechnik-buehler.de if they'd produce the dash piece unfinished since I'll be painting it at the same time as the car. The good news is that they can do it for 100€ + VAT, so a lot cheaper than the carbon version. They also speak English so no problem if you can't speak German!
Anyway, I'm going to order mine today and will update you all again when I recieve it!

OK, so I finally managed to get this painted:
I'm really pleased with the finish although the paint shop did have some issues with painting it due to it being made of carbon fibre and the threads showing through, but you can't tell now.
Thankfully, they also did it without charge as they were already doing a few other bits of bodywork for me, so total charge so far is around 140€.
I'm hoping to be able to fit it tomorrow so will update the thread with that then with photos. The great thing about this is that it'll be completely reversible as no glue etc will be needed to fix it rather than having the actual dash area painted.

OK, I managed to get this fitted today. It took me about 2.5 hours all in.
Here's some photo's taken in the garage so they're not the best but should give you some idea. I'll take some more tomorrow outside in the sun. I'm pretty happy with the result to be honest but it's always reversible if I change my mind. It'll probably look better if/when I change my interior to black though!
