Default '92 964 C4 battery/alternator issues

Need some help. I put in a replacement alternator in my '92 964 C4. Everything seemed fine. Coming home last night the ABS and 4 wheel lights came on. I didn't think anything about it. This morning I drove 2 miles to the post office. It would not start. Pushed it and it started. I put in a new battery. No output from alternator voltage 0. Any ideas?

Your alternator replacement was due to the same symptoms (not charging) or is this a new problem?

similar problem with a new alternator. When I put it in, the voltage at the battery read 14V. The previous alternator would read somewhere between 13 and 13.8V depending on the engine rpm.

Are you sure the wiring was hooked up right when the alternator was installed? When I replaced an alternator on my cabrio, my friend accidentally hook up the brown and blue wires backwards. It caused this symptom. Both wires have the same connector, so its possible. I hope this isn't your case, because this mistake damaged my new alternator. When I hooked the wires up properly, the damaged alternator damaged my wiring harness.

Good luck with the problem.

fairly for certain. I read 14V at the battery after install. It has run for about a week now.

The alternator will not work if the clock is bad .
Have you redone the clock ?

I am surprised it push started...

The clock is a very interesting and devilish thing. All the lights in the clock make part of that circut and if it does have a bad pin it will open that circut and whatever on that circut will fail to work. It's very strange that clock. I had to repair mine, but it fixed the Airbag light. It was dead short at the pin.

So let me ask you are you read alt voltage out put or just a battery voltage when you tested it?

voltage at battery when running, non of the warning lights on the clock come on with the key. Pulled the clock and taking it apart to check solder joints.
