Prepping for Painting
getting the C4 ready for a new paint job, got the bumpers off, entire oil system (waiting for some parts still) dropped the exhaust.
I didn't want to remove the doors and this made getting the fenders off very slow going but doable
there was some rust at the top were the seal is on both fenders but that was about all
also removed the PDAS to clean all the connections (pic) before it goes back in
got a flat bed arranged for Thursday to take to the body shop, i am no good at body or paint work.
Gonna stick with the original paint Amazon Metallic Green
here are some current pics

Looking good. Was that rust at the top of the front fender evident prior to removing the fender?
Also, let us know if and how removing the windshield w/o breaking the glass works out for you.

i could see rust appearing around the seal at the top of the fender, my body man spotted it and advised "if we are going to paint it right take off the fenders and lets take it down to the metal"l
it kinda looks worse in the pic then it really is, there is a lot of crap that's not cleaned off
the glass should come out best by removing the seals from the inside of the car...from what i understand
if anyone knows any tips about taking the glass out please pass it on

I cut my windscreen seals to ensure I got the screen out in one piece. Figured it was cheaper than a new screen. I'm going for a new screen now but was always going with new seals as I don't want water getting in there again and causing corrosion. My rebuild is fairly extreme though - See link below:

Stick with the link - it takes a little time to come up on Rennlist.

Glenn, to remove the front fenders do you just need to un-bolt them or are there some welds that need to be cut. I need to replace those two seals at the top of the fenders. Fresh green paint will look great. Good luck and keep us posted. Also thanks for your reply on the oil line thread.

Steve,
The wing/ fenders are sealed as well (see the white colour in pics) but you might be able to get the black flexible seal in there with a bit of lube if you are lucky. The white joint sealant needs to be cut and replaced when refitting. I think there is also an adhesive tape seal/gasket as well between the joint of fender/body.

Steve, there is a weld right at the top corner peak where the windshield meets. i used a chisel and hammer to tap it apart. that's the only weld i found
after you get the bolts out ( be patent it took me 4 partial days to get my off)
you have to cut the seal all around the fender and it will gradually come
sharp blades
don't forget the 2 allen bolts at the top where the weld is
i feel i'm so deep in right now ...i hope to be running by April
