Sunday I removed the oil line that goes from the filter housing to the thermostat; nothing wrong with the line other than a "kink" right before the rubber hose meets the steel tubing at the thermostat end. I tried to move things around to get rid of the kink, but it has been there for too long so the hose will have to be replaced. I will make up the hose myself using the old ends and hose from Elephant Racing. No affiliation...........

Saturday was spent trouble shooting a tire on my winter-mobile. Its been losing about 15 psi per week. Two weeks ago, I had taken it to my local tire shop and they said it was a leak in the bead. They removed it and remounted it. A week later, my "low tire" light came on again. Grrr.... I went to a friend who has a tire mounting machine. We removed the tire, cleaned the rim again and mounted it. It still leaked....Grrr...Turns out the tire is leaking through the tire carcass. The good news, I now know why its leaking. The bad news is I need new tire.

After spending a couple hours on the Volvo, I got to spend a few hours on the 964. I had received my rebuilt tranny from Vertex on Tuesday. I unboxed it and moved the brackets and transmission mount from the old to the "new" one. I also filled it with new Swepco gear oil.

Sunday was a relaxing day doing the crossword puzzle and watching the Patriots vs Ravens football game.

Replaced the exterior sill trim and a few loose/cracked attachment clips. Not a difficult job, but the clips and gear are pretty expensive. If one were to order all 4 rubber gaskets (recommended, as they're a unique profile and shape) and all the clips, and plastic nuts, it adds up to more than $136 at Sunset, even with the PCA discount... (if anyone wants the parts list let me know)

Looks a lot better now (no gaps or ripples) and I removed a LOT of dirt and gunk that got up in there. No rust or scratches, so the future looks good there. I just need to repaint the plastic someday, as below the 'line' its all pretty much come off and is wearing directly on the plastic. Since it's a black car it doesn't really show, but the shark fin is a bit beat up. (Patina)

Tried some rejuvination of the black plastic on my flag mirrors, WD40 followed by Glycerol seems to be the trick, nice matt black finish. Tried Vaseline on the "smile" which is a different sort of plastic, worked ok slightly different finish.

Non 964 related, but new oil catch can and 300lph fuel pump fitted to the Skyline. Still quite a strong smell of petrol in the kitchen, wife and cat not thrilled. Nice long drive for a thorough shakedown.

Got a flat tire on the 964 so got it home, put it on the lift and forcing myself to drive the 996TT until I decide if i will patch it or buy 4 new ones. Bad thing is its in the 80's and perfect top down weather.

Finished my first 'serious' repair, replaced the distributor drive belt. Thanks to this forum, it went without a hitch. Even meshed the gear properly the first try on install. Had to cut down a piece of cymbal felt to replace one of the shaft felts which I lost, haha.
