Default C4 Engine Removal without the use of a ramp

Hi Guys
Soon i will be removing the engine from my car for a repaint, only problem is i don't have a ramp in my bodyshop, next door have two four posters but from experience these wont be suitable.

Question being has anyone done this on the floor only using jacks and an engine crane.
My thoughts being:
Jack up the back as high as possible on axle stands, get underneath and disconnect the relevant bits including gearbox mount
lower car down with low trolley or pallet under the engine
release rear mounts and lift the body with an engine crane/hoist, slide engine out and lower car
Cheers
Tom

Check out this time lapse of a 993 owner (also RL member) removing his engine in his garage.

Haven't done it, but guys here remove engines all the time without lifts. You might want to search the threads here for "bumper removal" or "atv jack" as those terms might be relevant.

An ATV jack works nicely. The engine and transmission come out together unless you are really good at installing things under the car. You will still need to jack up the car more in order for the engine to pass out under the rear. This is the hardest part. I use a floor jack with a big piece of wood across the place where the front transmission bolts go in.

Engine crane feet tend to get in the way a lot.

Jacking the car up and sliding the engine out is much easier. Safe too as long as you use axle stands properly.

ATV jack and remove the bumper and it is possible. You need something like 27inches of clearance.

a 964 is not like the old small engine cars that you could use just a jack to drop the engine.

I did it a little more precariously. I removed all the exhaust system. Made a support out of wood and used a regular floor jack. With two assistants to balanace the engine I got it down.

Get on it. The drop should only take 2:39. Please keep us updated.
