The biggest advantage of a Strut Brace?

Decreased creaks and squeaks in your front dash and windshield.

I never thought of this but it is a great point.

I think kai's point is that strut braces all do the same thing and really I agree that they are pretty much the same. The brace works well and once you've used one for a while, when removed it becomes obvious what a benefit they are

If there is nothing negative since 2008 about this replica of the Matter one piece GT2 strut bar then I would be all over it. This bar was my first choice years ago before I purchased the OEM RS version. The one piece design is stronger than any thing else, but there is no easy fix if the holes in the brace do not line up with the car.

Back in 2006 I tried to set up a group buy from Gert at Carnewal for the replica one piece brace. It never happened because Gert had stopped selling them. The 993 board had several discussions at the time about Fabspeed offering the same units. No negative posts since 2008 would indicate that any issues have been resolved.

As I recall, the top choices in 2006 were the OEM RS brace and the Perfect Power copy of the RUF brace.

There are a couple of threads from 2007 that discussed all of this but I see no point in linking to them.

If anyone has recent experience with the Fabspeed brace please post!

Henry, good luck with your search.

If yer purchasing a certain brace for looks, or semi-cup originality, that's fine.

But...a piece of rusty angle iron would do the job just fine also.

Hey Guys, make sure to check out our GT2 Aluminum Strut bar. Its a direct replacement and will work on all 964 and 993 cars, Turbo and non Turbo. Its a replica of the Porsche Motorsport brace, so it fits perfectly. I have heard some people had to open the holes a little to fit on certain cars, but its rare. We have done a few of them here and they bolted up without any problems. I would be glad to do a nice discounted GB on them if anyone is interested.
thanks,

I'm in.

Just spoke with Alex@Fabspeed and he'll drop the price of the brace $40 to $235 if we can organize 5 participants.

He also said more than 5 buyers, a bigger discount could be negotiated

Anyone?

Forgive my ignorance but would one of these be helpful in a cab to reduce flex? (not that I'm driver enough to push a cab to it's limit or anything)

I'm in if it's installed using existing mounting points and requires no drilling on the car - 1990 964 C2.

Thanks geordie for coordinating this GB!

Yes, my understanding is that you will be stiffening the chassis, thus reducing flex. I imagine the effects on a cab are more noticeable than on a coupe.

Let us know if you are in!

This is a nice brace at a great price. I'd be in but I'd have to buy another car to bolt it to.
Ha!

Cheers Jim - I've put a post on the 993 board.
