Henry - sorry about your thread getting hijacked!
Geordie - thanks for getting this started!
Mitch - thanks for the update.

By my tally, it would seem there are four of us:

mitch
sundog
ToSi (who pm'ed me)
geordie

Henry964 and max3.2 are two "maybe's" pending fit clarification.

A couple of others asked questions but did not commit.

This is a good time for anyone interested to declare!

I'm sure that we'll all need to place the orders directly with FabSpeed. Alex at FabSpeed will likely work from a list of participants provided by geordie.

Hey Guys, thanks for being patient, I have not been able to get on here due to new car projects that we are working on and also handling all the Network and Data services at our new location that we are preparing to move into. So I apologize for the delay, I guess its a good thing when your this busy. Ill make it up to you on this group buy.

As for the 964 Strut brace, yes it will fit with the existing carpet, but you may need to adjust little things here and there. As for the mounting holes, its an exact match to the existing bolts that are coming through the car. So once in a while, I had to lightly file the inside holes so that it fits on smoothly without hurting the bolt threads. It sometimes also helps to jack up the one side of the car to lift the body a little so that the bar goes on easier. Its a very tight fit, but designed that way for maximum stiffness. Let me know what you would like to do and if we can get 5 or more, you can contact Geordie with the names and then i can proceed with the orders.
thanks,

Great news.

Count me in for 1 unit. While the Rennline bar looks good and is priced pretty low, I like that this bar fits under the carpet.

Alex, what's the price once 5 units are confirmed?

Thank you.

Just to drag this thread back to it's author's question, what is the best strut brace? A quick flick thru this and other threads the most obvious choices seem to be:
Fabspeed
Ambler
Perfect power
KLA
CF TRG
Kremer
Schnell
Rennline
Recent threads have organised group buys for Renn, PP and FS but I can't make out any real qualities to make a decision except: looks; does it fit under the carpet; cost.
Am I right in thinking that other qualities might be its rigidity and obviously its weight? I could be wrong but the PP brace looks more rigid than the FS but I'd bet the FS is much lighter? How rigid is rigid enough and if Porsche used a design for racing akin to the FS model ten maybe this isn't too important; maybe there is some benefit in a little flex?
So what is the best strut brace for a 964 that is road going but slowly evolving into a track day machine??
Anyone, anyone... Bueller?

doubtful. That thin piece of aluminum would crumple way before it would bend the shock tower or frame.

The one piece Fabspeed copy of the Matter GT2 brace is the best because it is one piece, with nothing in the brace itself to move or flex. The downside is that it must fit the car perfectly right out of the box without modifying the mounting holes, or you are back to allowing flex. Fabspeed seems to have gotten it right as there have been no issue in the past 4 or 5 years.

It also fits under the carpet.

Having said all of that I have two strut braces (on two cars) that are not one piece designs and both work very well.
Keep in mind that with the fixed piece, you also can't preload the shock towers at all.

Added to this, I've never seen a brace similar to the fabspeed item fitted on a road going GT2 and doubt this design clears the 92 litre long range fuel tank it (and many RS models ) comes fitted with.

It is for this exact reason the original matter brace comes with the hightened mounting feet (with ample triangulation to prevent flex). Here's a pic:

The brace on the car you link to is the Heigo OEM RS strut tower brace, not the Matter brace.
