Okay, well I already have the fan off, so i'll reassemble w/ pulleys, sans fan, and see if they can get it mounted up and tested.
Since the alternator does not have typical alternator mounting tabs, does this create a problem when they put it on their machine?

FWIW, my local Autozone and NAPA weren't able to test my alternator. Autozone kinda fumbled w/ hooking it up before saying that they could not hold it down and line-up the belt w/ the pulley.
NAPA didn't even try, they just said I could leave it w/ them and they'd look into sending it out.
Considering this is just a CYA, while I have it out of the car, test, I'm saying 'F' it' and going to reinstall it.

Three Wheelin'
Bringing this thread back up. The rear bearing started getting noisy on my ~3 year old rebuilt Bosch alternator. Rather than risk another rebuild, I decided to open it up and replace the bearing myself. A surprisingly easy task.
After the fan is off and the alternator is out of the car, use an impact screwdriver to remove the four screws along the diameter that are visible when looking at the alternator from the front. The rear casing is a light press fit and will pull off with a little work.
The rear bearing is now easy to get to. I used a simple 3-jaw puller to grab the bearing and press it off.
The rear bearing is 6201-2RS, 12x32x10mm. I found one on ebay for ~$3 shipped (compared to ~$24 at bearingsdirect).
Toss the alternator shaft in the freezer to help drive the new bearing and spacer sleeve on, then reassemble. Voila.
