Being the cynical engineer that I am, Steve's suggestion begged the question of how the highly expensive rear reflector and light units are affected by ozone?
As I understand it, the feed air from the vent kit escapes from under the distributor caps, so if you are not happy with that personally I would vent to atmosphere at the bottom of the distributor.

My car has had no bung for, from what I can tell, 96k miles. It could be so backed up that a single bung (einbung) installed using the Porsche einbunginstallierenverfahren, would be more than sufficient to relieve the pressure.

...we've already determined that the previously accepted einbunginstallierenverfahren won't function properly. It has now been superceeded by TSB 2011-xyz "Doppelbungmitdemeinsicherrhordassmanjetzinstallierenmust" verfahren.

anyone with the standard vent kit care to humor me and disconnect the rubber hose from blower tube and manually blow into the tube? Curious how air tight the Distributor is. (would do it myself if I were home)

Upon further reflection, I think the DoppelBung concept still has some merit. Now that Colin has brought our attention to ozone as being an evil substance that will rot your car out from within, I think the only responsible course of action is to install a doppelbung, but instead of venting it to the rear reflector...
