Default Stalls - help pls

Hi all,

My car stalls after warm up. In idling, sometimes it feels like it has no fuel and wants to die down.

When cold it runs fine. Problems start to occur when car is warmed up and hot.

What can be wrong? Fuel pump, ignition coil?

Thanks in advance guys.

Peter

Light weight flywheel, if present, can cause the stalling you described.

Clean out that Idle Stabilizer with carburetor cleaner VERY thoroughly and see if that helps.

Sometimes the distributor caps can foul or crack and rotors to give bad idle and stalls once you stall then you crank to restart will overfuel the plugs giving a flooding symptom and rougher running until excess fuel is cleared. Might be worth trying to swap dizzy caps if you have spares. I know my car for some strange reason when warm started to stall like it was running out of fuel. Turned out my dizzy & rotors were in need of replacement.

Default Stalls

I had the same problem and spent about 2-3 hours disconnecting each ground, cleaning (light emory cloth/wire brush) and reattaching (I also cleaned the contacts in the DME and all engine connections.) Previous owner sold the car because he couldn't keep it running. After this easy fix, has stalled only five times in 3 years....cleaned dirty ISV. I have not had a problem since.

I would also get the durametric software and look at the codes... you might be surprised at what errors you are getting. If someone has a hammer nearby, so much the better from what I hear.

Typically, other things that cause similar problems..plugs, wires, after it warms up the insulation could be breaking down...

Best of luck. I know it can be frustrating, but once resolved, you will really enjoy your car.

Adjust the idle slightly.
Moved mine up, just a little a few mm and it cured a similar issue.

"I had the same problem and spent about 2-3 hours disconnecting each ground"

Turbo Two shoes, can you briefly explain how you disconnect 'each' ground ie how many are there? I have same problem. Put a brand new ground strap off the battery and found 2 wires stripped under the dash.

i have brand new wires, rotors, caps, coils, etc

Fixed the problem but it has come back.....

Look behind the coils for example, and you'll see a ground wire bolted to the side of the engine bay. Unbolt it, lightly sand the corrosion off it, and bolt it back on for a better connection. Repeat on other ground points you find, the wiring loom will ground to the body a several points.
