3.2-964 rear screen ?
#5
It's not the same, the only way of getting a 3.2 screen to fit is to fit the 3.2 rubber&trim and that will look a bit strange!!
I wanted to do this as I can get a no wiper hole rear screen for a 3.2 about 1/4 the price as a 964 rs rear screen....bummer

Sorry to re-awaken this old thread, but has anyone actually put a 3.2 Carrera rear screen into a 964? Been looking at images or 3.2's and can't say as I can see a big difference. I know Porsche progressively made screens sit more flush with the bodywork over the years but can't tell much difference with the 3,2 and 964.....

The last 3.2 (1989) screen will fit in a 964 as its the same size.
Basically the size in the shell are the same, like the front, from 1965-94
As long as you have the correct seal to match the screen either combination will work, but you would need the trim inserts if you use a 911 rear screen
964 screens are about 15mm larger than 911 ones, the seal is about 15mm thinner, hence they fit!
So if your trying to go for the RS no wiper look you need;
screen 96454510704
seal 96454522500

911 Pervy: thanks for the great reply.
Are the part numbers you quoted for the 89 911 rear screen then, as they look like 964 part numbers??
What I am looking for really is a no wiper hole heated rear screen with standard type heater elements...

So that would explaine why a late 89 coupe had 964 front/rear screens & rubbers I did last year....I just thought the PO had just put late glass to get rid of the early rubbers with the trim insert?... That's the only late 89 3.2 I've seen in over 25 years of doing it..you learn something everyday
