Default What Oil Should I Use In MY 964

A few lines I am ready to change my oil a diy does not seem that hard. My brother says to use Mobil one as it does not need to be change but once a year. The car is a 90 model with 56 thousand on the clock. I do not think I am going to change the type of oil. Using 20w50 now castrol GTX. Thanks from all the gurus.... PS this is the oil I use in the E model as well .....1970

I dare not make a recommendation, as some here treat oil as a religion, but can suggest you read this article to become aware of some factors that come into play with air-cooled Porsches.

Castrol GTX is not the oil it once was, some people even recommend against it. Check out the link that Laker has provided.

I order Brad Penn from LN and it's sitting on my doorstep the next day (regular shipping). That reminds me...

Same here on the Brad Penn... my car wasn't running well in the heat with M1. It runs better (higher oil pressure) with BP.

I have no statistical/objective data on this topic, but all I know is that quite a few independent experts speak well about BP.

castrol Edge 15-50 no good huh? Guess i'll be ordering the Brad Penn next time around. But I only see the 20-50 on their site, what about a winter blend? What do you east coasters use for winter season? I've always used amsoil 5-40 during winter, but i'm open to better options and opinions.

In short, anything high quality oil with a nice amount of ZDDP in it. Our engines don't have roller rockers like newer engines do, leading to the need to additional lubricating ability from oil.

But yeah, +1 Brad Penn
